  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Too many variables
Not really, as far as my point goes - the state is going to invest a lot more into catching a murderer than it is into issuing a speeding ticket despite the fact that both actions violate the law because catching a speeder has less value to society than stopping a murderer.

We could get more ridiculous if you want though - there's a town in Alabama that has a law on the books banning the wearing of blue jeans on Main Street. I doubt anyone has been arrested for that offense in at least 150 years.

Whew... "destroy the flood".

Nothing like comparing human beings to a bunch of invading parasites.
It helps the supporting base to not feel so bad about what they’re doing to people if they hardly think of them as people at all.

Traffic enforcement is not the best example, states, counties and cities invest in it because it creates revenue and saves lives

Try exceeding the speed limit and murdering someone and see which gets you arrested faster.
First it is how much it costs and now it is based on speed?

Yeah... I wonder if all the people who are supporting this messaging recognize the dehumanizing language and imagery that is being used. Trump and his cohort use words like "infestation", "animals", and "leeches". Clearly meant to paint them as not human, and thus justify treating them as such.

For those who don't know, the image in the lower right of the graphic that is in the OP is from the Halo video game series. In the game, "the flood" are parasitic, zombie-like alien creatures who rapidly overrun planets because they can use dead bodies to reproduce.

Regardless of what you think about border security and illegal immigrants (heck, I believe we should have a secure border) - I would hope it is recognized that many immigrants come here illegally to escape bad circumstances and to seek a better life... not to cause trouble and "leech" off the government. When you dehumanize them in this way, you are doing the same to Jesus. For it is written, "whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

Cliched scripture reference? Maybe. But its in the book... and it resonates with me, at least.

Most prospective employers look for the best and the brightest, but the qualifications for ICE agents seems to be unfettered brutality, aggression, and possibly military mercenary backgrounds.

Thanks for your opinion - we completely disagree.
How can you disagree. Marijuana laws have been ignored since Colorado legalized it. Trump suspended the Foreign Corrupt Bribery Act, telling the DOJ to not use it. Prosecutors and law enforcement do this all the time.

I once called the FBI regional office to report a type of fraud that crossed state lines. The agent I talked too was sympathetic but flat out told me that unless the amount was over 50k, the FBI would not be interested in pursuing a case. So the 25K crime slipped though the cracks though I could have easily copied the evidence.

I once went to the local IRS office to say that my employer had cheated on my W-2, claiming I earned far less than what I really did. The IRS said they could do nothing unless I had all my pay stubs for the entire year. Since they did not care, I paid less tax. The motive of the employer was to take out taxes and social security from me and other employee checks but fail to report much of them so that they pocketed the taxes instead of sending them on. Had I known the employer was already going to court for other issues with the IRS, I would have told them that too but I only found out later. You would think they would like to check before they dismissed my claim but I guess no time for such things. Though anecdotal that is how things work in the real world.

Government's funding requires that they prioritize. Though from 2003, here is demonstrable evidence that only 2% of certain Federal gun crimes were prosecuted during the three years this was studied. I would put more money there rather than sending working illegals packing.

For every dollar the IRS spends on resources they can bring in 6-12 dollars more in revenue. Trump cut their staffing.

So here we are enforcing laws about illegals, ignoring others. Though i support amnesty I am fine with deportations it as long as they deport and incarcerate justly. I dislike it when ICE or the DOJ do things against a court order. That is rebellion, and I imagine they reap what they sow. If the lower courts too knowingly rebel, I hope they get what they deserve as well.

Seems wasteful but, what do I know? Obama only managed to deport more people with fewer funds and much less public backlash but I guess coming in second to Obama is pretty much the norm for our current president.

Um... To be fair, what are you basing that on? Obama's eight years in office versus Trump's five? Or one? I think Trump may have the edge on numbers deported if you combine five years of Trump versus the first five years of Obama.

I forget Trump left office for 4 years.

It really doesn't feel like it.

They're going to need all the recruits they can get to accomplish what the DHS is dreaming about:

View attachment 374853

Going to have to denaturalize everyone who has obtained citizenship legally and start stripping native born citizens of their citizenship to get that number but don't worry, it's only the illegals they have a problem with.
Making America White Supremecist again.

Great news everyone! We just found a huge reserve of unclaimed oil!

Here, here. The Trump Administration may need to revamp those recruitment posters. "Habla espanol? Your country needs you to protect the Venezuelen oil fields."
