I believe the issue is not understanding how the Bible is written. Trying to go by strict chronological order and not allowing the Bible to explain Itself, one will only come to wrong conclusions and not Biblical Truth.
The Bible is built on repeat and enlarge.
For example:
We know the seventh day was a day of rest from Creation, but we don't know God calls it the Sabbath until much later.
Gen 2:1-3 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2
And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done,
and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then
God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it,
because in it
He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
Exo 20:11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed
the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
So we know from God's own written and spoken Testimony in the Ten Commandments, the Sabbath and the seventh day are interchangeable and He blessed and sanctified the seventh day Sabbath and in the entire Bible God never took away, only God can remove His blessing and sanctification not man, because man is not God.
We first learn the word sin when Cain killed Abel.
Gen4:7 and we learn later that Adam sinned
Rom5:12.
We also learn that where there is no sin (transgression) there is no law
Rom4:15 so there has to be a law in the days of Adam and Eve and Cain because they sinned so therefore there had to be a law. We already know from the Testimony of God in the Ten Commandments, the Sabbath started at Creation
Exo20:11 and the only law that has thou shalt not murder is the Ten Commandments
Exo20:13
Later we learn the definition of sin is breaking God's law
1John3:4 and it quotes verbatim from the Ten Commandments breaking one we break them all
James2:11 and become a transgressor of the law. Why Paul also points to the Ten Commandments saying I would not know what sin is had God not said thou shalt not covet. Rom7:7 Jesus also saying not to break or teach others to break the least of these commandments and than quotes two of the Ten Commandments to know which Law He is speaking of saying if breaking them one will be in fear of sin and judgement. Mat5:19-30
Another example of repeat and enlarge...
In Kings we see that King Manasseh was an evil King
2 Kings 21:9 and doesn;t say anything about him repenting until a whole other chapter
2 Chronicles 33:12–13
The Bible is filled with these patterns. Its how most books and movies are written, they don't explain everything little thing in every section. The Bible will explain Itself from the Bible. Most of the symbols in Revelation is quoted verbatim elsewhere in the Bible.
The bible is not meant to be read page by page only, it is meant to be prayerfully studied and when the Bible reveals what things mean, we should believe it and not say, no, that's not true because it doesn;t fit in with our theology. Let the bible explain Itself, it does clearly and no one is greater than God.
The Ten Commandments is a separated document written on stone by the Holy Spirit and no more was added
Deut 4:13 Exo34:28 Exo31:18 Deut5:22 it has the seal of God on this document
Exo20:11 that nothing more can be added to and nothing can be taken from because it is written by God not man. The law of Moses was written by Moses on ink in scrolls that was never the Ten Commandments, it was placed besides the ark Deut31:24-26, not inside the ark under the mercy seat of God
Exo25:21 like the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandment is the Testimony of
God Exo31:18 its His separate will Psa40:8 and Testimony directly from God. Giving credit to Moses for this when he did not take any and was there
Exo32:16 is really lowering God down to man and exalting man as equal to God. That's why sadly I hear so many people who will not allow the Words of God to speak for Himself, they speak over Him, adding words He never said, it is essentially people making themselves their own god.
Regarding how to read the Bible this is what we are told:
Isa 28:10
For precept
must be upon precept, precept upon precept,
Line upon line, line upon line,
Here a little, there a little.”
Let the Bible interpret Itself, it tells us to Pro3:5-6 when God is speaking, there is no other person in the Bible that is greater and can override His Words. So lets not do this, we are told plainly not to Pro30:5-6
