  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

President Donald Trump on Monday reiterated that he is weighing whether to reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug, a statement that mirrors similar comments he made earlier this year and during his 2024 presidential campaign.

The potential move to remove marijuana from the list of Schedule I controlled substances and make it a Schedule III drug would make it significantly easier to buy and sell cannabis and make the cannabis industry more profitable.

I support it, it's easier to pass our fascist agenda if the majority of those who would oppose it are too busy being stoned.

More and more data is coming out on the harms of smoking pot. It always seems weird though that the Federal Government refuses to prosecute Federal laws that are on the books. I guess with pot if is too impractical. But I suppose it still is not federally "legal."

I heard through the grapevine it’s more harmful for the lungs than cigarette smoke. Have no idea how accurate that is.

In California , it legal. So, I'm not surprised. I assume it's legal every where.
For medical purposes, in some states, yes. It’s not legal everywhere though, though my state does sell “edibles” for recreational use.

True. But as with alcohol, its in that realm of "somewhat-bad things" where individuals should have some personal discretion re the fun vs harm trade offs. Especially when we factor in the harms that come from prohibition - as noted earlier.

I do think the legal free for all around potency and tasty edibles etc is not so great. But thats fine print stuff legislatures can adjust as we go.

Overall, its a rare Trump admin policy novelty I can get behind.

Yup. We saw how that worked with alcohol. It didn’t.
No need to hark back to that, it's failing even harder currently with other substances.

From what I recall, it is about the same in levels of harm, the issue is that pot smokers hold the smoke in their lungs longer. This is more damaging. However when you measure that against the fewer number of hits (or drags) taken the overall effect is less.

(ex smoker of both so it was of interest to me)

Edibles all around then, no lung damage.

As a former citizen of Washington State, I'm shocked, appalled, and disgusted to learn that you once smoked cigarettes. Good day Sir!
