  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

“Foreign policy choices will be made based on what makes the United States more powerful and prosperous. That’s fair, and clearly what the American people voted for, but today’s self-interested choices may lead to a far lonelier, weaker, more fractured future. This is a truly pivotal moment in the way the world works.”

In the mid 1980s, I arrived in one Euro city and was greeted with a sign that said "yankee go home." In spite of that most were friendly and I got a chuckle out of it because I was from the south anyway. That was innocent though compared to how many foreigners are thinking about the USA today. Trump's policies are pushing us away from the world and also causing domestic havoc. Sometimes too it is not just the policy, but the way that he carries it out. Blowing up boats with no release of the facts, detaining professional S. Koreans from a factory under construction, accepting gifts like a plane and gold brick, tearing down the East Wing while saying it would not be disturbed, Noem wearing a Rolex watch to visit a foreign prison, the treatment of Zelensky at the White House, the list goes on and on and while that shows power, it is the kind of power that most people resist. I will suggest too that while other nations are being silent, they will at some point push reciprocal tariffs and demote the USA in her standing, more than most realize if this continues for long. Even many Canadians are alienated from the USA now. That was a hard thing to do but many are now refusing to visit and or buy US made goods. That is just the tip of the iceberg. Meanwhile Trump is surrounded by loyalists who are all saying fair weather and goodness while the whole MAGA platform (Some of which is good) is going down. This will slow down as some in the GOP are on alert and the midterms will bring a correction.

If President Trump is as bad as you and the liberal fake news try to present him as, what makes you think that there will be a "midterm election"? The fact is President Trump is the most popular president ever with the highest ratings at this point in his term and a huge majority of Americans support his vision and great work he has been doing.

Donald Trump re-entered the Oval Office in January with a net approval rating of positive 6. Since then it has fallen, interrupted only by brief upticks. By early December it had dropped to -18. His polling numbers had only been that low once in his second term, back in October. This week it climbed back a bit, to -16.

You have another source not “fake”?

Most of @Aryeh Jay's posts are tongue -in-cheek.

I guess I expect elections because even Trump can't suspend them without a serous cause such as boots on the ground fighting on U.S. soil. Even if Trump somehow succeeded in postponing elections, it will only make things worse. I think by 2026 Trump will either have far less fight in him, or many in the GOP will defect. Fake news is suggesting that Trump's ratings are great. New Trump approval rating poll finds worsening support among MAGA base
They are far from that and if you have not noticed the tide is turning. Though Trump wins some legal battles he seems likely to lose both tariff authority in all cases and birthright citizenship. The tide is turning too from other GOP in Congress. Trump was promising, he blew out the entire GOP platform and replaced it with MAGA, some of which were good ideas if done in moderation and with more compassion. Instead, his methods were too crass and his implementation too barbaric. I am not sure that even a war would rally people behind Trump. Many Americans wanted Trump like the Israelites wanted King Saul. The candidate that would clean house and replace it with extreme prosperity. Why think there can be revival/renewal without humility? or that disregarding the poor would be a good policy? I know the rise and fall of Trump must seem sad to many, but why? What did one expect? That the USA could tariff their way to prosperity? Anyway, don't be disillusioned, we all can still humble ourselves and seek God for solutions for America that turn the tide in a way that lifts the church up rather than bring it contempt.

What news have you been listening to in order to believe this rot. Please give us the slightest bit of evidence that shows Trump is popular.

Elections are no longer relevant. If he doesn’t like the outcome he claims fraud and his people follow along.

He and some supporters can claim fraud but the seats in Congress will change anyway. I don't see a path to the GOP holding the majority in the House and maybe the Senate. Perhaps martial law could postpone an election but that would only make things worse for the GOP.

Ok I am catching on. And the only way he can lose an election is by fraud and when he wins it is in spite of fraud.
