We've never had open borders. What specifically is the "mess" left by the last administration, the "bad policies" and "radical ideology" destroying the US?

Lol, you have to ask that. Lets take one at a time. The allowance of over 20 million people coming over the border without proper vetting and integration. Which has caused tremendous problems for the cities that has taken them in.

Now more than 18,000 of them have been identified as active terrorists.

Associated with this is the massive fruad as many of these illegals were given welfare or linked with welfare which drained funds from local people in need. But also actively stole funds under the watch of the Dems. Who themselves had a vested interest to be PC and turn a blind eye to that corruption because they would lose support.

Yes this is so much of a mess that its become a national security and safety issue for America that the entire system of immigration needs an overhaul due to the mess caused by the last administration.

You may say the US has not had open borders. But the policies and more importantly the actions and often lack of action and acknowledgement of the problems was acting like there was open borders.

You don't have to explicitely declare open borders to act like supporting open borders.

When illegals are allowed to come at the rate of 20 million in a short time under the last administration and then Dem States offer sanctuary and other benefits to them even fighting with the Federal government to protect such status. Thats acting like supporting open borders as far as I can see.

This is not just happening in the US. This is also the same in Europe and Britain and to a less extent my nation Australia. The common denominator in all this is that in every nation it was under a Leftist administration that caused this. Thats because the fundemental ideology does believe in open borders.

They do believe in a world where there is no destinction between ethnics and cultures and everyone is living in this one big happy DEI utopia. While not integrating or policing anyone. Thats all well and good. But this is unreal and the chaos is evidence of this.

Sorry but its a fundemental flaw in their ideological beliefs.

You need to remember that the Biden administration insisted that the border was safe, secure, and closed, one of the biggest government hoaxes in American history. Some, such as Victor Davis Hanson, would put the number at the lower end of the range I provided, 10-12 million while others at the higher or even higher. We really don't know how many totally evaded detection but it is reasonable to assume that those are not people likely to fill out surveys. I understand the effort to downplay the numbers, be aware that much of it comes from the same people who were participants in the Biden administration hoax.

I suspect the reason people may feel that the number is twenty million net new arrivals in the administration is because that lie is so often repeated by the stable genius every chance he gets, no matter the occasion or putative subject of the speech.

Oh okay. I misunderstood when you said you suspected that the actual number [of what? total or recent arrivals?] was "higher rather than lower" without specifically saying higher or lower than what. I just assumed you were referring to the number mentioned rather than some unspoken, unknown. My bad.
