This is a confusing reply. First it seems to be a non-sequitur, no where does the article or poster mention the state of Israel and God's promises. Secondly, it could be interpreted to mean under certain circumstances it's Okay to kill random people at the beach. i.e. if they feel Israel is the fulfillment of God's promise. I'm sure that isn't what you meant, just letting you know your comment could be misinterpreted.

I was talking about anti-Semitism and the completely unacceptable attack at Bondi Beach is a symptom of that. I hope you are not suggesting that the existence of the state of Israel justifies murder of Jews.

Personally I support both Jews and Israel and am happy to defend both here.

30000 Messianic Jews in Israel are the fulfilment of the promise to the Jews. God gave them the land and Christian Jews can claim the promise. As long as these guys stand, so should the state of Israel.

You are right, I do support the state of Israel but this thread was meant to be about anti-Semitism and the growing problem of this. It seems that people may be conflating the two but actually they are separate issues.

What happened at Bondi beach is unacceptable regardless of whether you support the state of Israel or not.

It was meant as advice to a Christian asking how best to respond to the recent rise in antisemitism.

Suggesting that Jews give up the state that is their home from pogroms and persecutions that have been going for 2000 years around the world and that we should give in to the murderous rage of Islamist terror groups who want a Palestinian state from the river to the Sea is not the way to stop antisemitism. Actually, it had already been home to home to many Jews for centuries. It was a refuge for Jews driven out of Christian Europe.

Various Ottoman governors killed them or stole their property. They were overtaxed and victimized under centuries of Muslim rule - so how does this support your case? Much of the property Palestinians claim was stolen from them was originally stolen from Jews. Jews in Israel can keep their property, are taxed fairly and can defend themselves with overwhelming force is the difference between having a state and not. They are also thriving there in a way that never happened under the various corrupt and incompetent Ottoman governors. There are orange groves in the desert now where before it was just wasteland.
