From what I read in the new covenant the church did not keep days, months, seasons and years. If we are to worship GOD IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH, then why use time, physical divisions of time to do this ? GOD isn’t bound by time. Why use it to worship HIM. Every second, minute, hour, day, week, month or year is when we can worship GOD. Ancient Israel was carnal and kept many holy days, in Christianity all days are holy because we are GODS temple, we are GODS building. We rest, we Sabbath from working in a law we cannot keep to giving up our works to submit to having GOD work in us. We are GODS workmanship and GOD has prepared works to do in and through us. This work is HIS love in us that empowers us to do no harm, to love GOD and our neighbor. Our natures are being changed to be like the divine nature that was demonstrated to us by Jesus Christ. We are to be transformed into the same image as Jesus. Only babes, those weak in the spirit might keep days but as they mature in the spirit they will give them up. Every day of the life of a Christian is with GOD and Christ, not just one day out of seven. What does a physical rest have to do with a spiritual rest ? The 4th commandment was only a shadow of our rest, our Sabbath in Christ . That’s what Hebrews 4:9 is about. Why do so many people try to mix the covenants together when they are so vastly different. It’s because they are carnal. The law, all of it, was only a shadow of what Christ would fulfill. The law is the shadow of death, the ministry of death, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the way that seems right to a man but the end is death. This is true and some people are still eating it’s fruit today and will suffer the same result.
Regarding the one Scripture you posted that Jesus is our Sabbath. This is what Heb4:9 actually says for those interested
Heb 4:9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God;
The Greek word for rest in the verse literally means keeping the Sabbath
Original Word: σαββατισμός
Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine
Transliteration: sabbatismos
Pronunciation: sab-bat-is-mos'
Phonetic Spelling: (sab-bat-is-mos')
sabbatismos: Sabbath rest
Definition: Sabbath rest
Meaning: a keeping of the Sabbath, a Sabbath rest.
Nothing about Jesus becoming the 4th commandment so we no longer need to Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy according to the commandment and Testimony of God.
Yes, we rest in Jesus and those who enter His rest though faith and obedience also cease from their works as God did Heb4:10 on the seventh day Heb4:4 Exo20:11 because man was made in the image and likeness of God to follow Him. We need both the physical rest from our works and labors on the seventh day Exo20:8-11 and spiritual rest in Him, they work in tandem, not against,
