  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The New Testament begins in Acts not Matthew chapter one.

I see, no wonder you hold the doctrines that you do. Thanks for clarifying.
Hey G

All the Covenant promises are fulfilled in Jesus. But they were time sensitive. I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, No man come to the Father but through Me. Including OT believers. Jesus has the Keys to Hades and death (Revelation 1:18). When He descended, He preached to those Spirits in Prison (1 Peter 3:19). When He ascended, He led captivity captive (Ephesians 4:8, Psalm 68:18). Abrahams bosom, Paradise, was in Hades before the cross (Luke 23:43, Acts 2:27-31, Psalm 16:10-11). Later, Paradise is recorded as being in the Third Heaven (2 Corinthians 12:2-4), thus leading captivity captive from (Ephesians 4:8). The time sensitive part is where the transition from the OT to the NT comes in. Promises fulfilled. In Jesus.

Interesting how you lump words together to assume they are referring to the exact same thing.

So, in your point of view, all the OT saints are in heaven now, alright.

Yes, they are in Heaven.

Before the cross John 3:13-15. That Psalm passage in post #21 was the wrong one. I fixed it. It said Psalm 16:19, but I meant Psalm 16:10-11. That was to show that what was called Sheol in the OT, is called Hades in the NT.

I changed a Psalm passage noted above, but I didn't change that part. It originally said 2 Corinthians 12:2-4. Here it is from the NKJV. I think that I know what happened. When you hold the arrow over that passage, it only shows it down to about halfway in verse four. You need to click on the "more" to get the rest of verse four.

2 Corinthians 12:2-4 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago--whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows--such a one was caught up to the third heaven. And I know such a man--whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows-- how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

Hey Dan

John 3:13 (still Old Testament) is speaking of the OT believers who were waiting for the cross. They went to Abrahams bosom when they died (Luke 16:19-31). That's not a parable. Hades is translated as Hell in the KJV, but the proper translation is Hades. The writers of the KJV Bible understood Hell differently than we do today. Their idea of Hell was similar to our idea of Hades today. Hades is called Sheol in the OT. These OT believrs could not be with the Father on credit. They needed to be made clean first (Romans 3:25-26). Promises do not cleanse Temples, blood does. Otherwise Adam and Eve would have never had to leave the presence of God. We can only be made clean in Jesus Christ. We can only be in Jesus Christ when we have the Holy Spirit indwelling, which is the Agent of that baptism, or, placing into. We could not have the Holy Spirit until Christ was lifted up, hence, the death resurrection and ascension provided all the ingredients that we needed to be saved. The spiritual union with Christ Jesus would not have done anything until those things happened first. The ingredients first. Thus allowing the Holy Spirit to cleanse the Temple when He enters, the Temple being us (1 Corinthians 16:19). Nobody was indwelt before this. For those who were still alive and due the Promise, the transition recorded in Acts.

Here's some links for you to read. the quote is from the second one.

"While Paradise is not now a part of Sheol/Hades it will be mentioned here because it was located in Sheol/Hades at one time. Before the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ everybody who died went to Sheol/Hades, which was at that time divided into at least two compartments. One was a place of torment while the other was a place of blessing, which was referred to as Abraham's Bosom (Lk. 16:22-25). As we mentioned before, Tartarus may be a specific place in Sheol/Hades.

We know that Jesus Christ went "into the lower parts of the earth" (Eph. 4:9), that is to Sheol/Hades, "in the heart of the earth," for three days and nights while his body was in the grave (Mat. 12:40). The Lord Jesus told the repentant thief that he would join Him in Paradise that same day (Lk. 23:42,43). This tells us that Paradise was located in Sheol/Hades at that time. We believe that this was the same place referred to as Abraham's Bosom in Luke 16. However, after Jesus Christ rose from the dead He ascended to the Father, taking the saints who were in Abraham's Bosom to heaven with Him. Thus, He took "captivity captive" (see Eph. 4:8-10).

That Paradise was moved to heaven is confirmed to us by the Apostle Paul who speaks of a man who was "caught up into Paradise" where he "heard unspeakable words" (II Cor. 12:3,4). With Jesus Christ's work complete, the believers who had been confined to Sheol/Hades were now taken to Heaven to wait in God's presence until the time of their resurrection to enter His Kingdom on Earth. Since that time, at death all believers go to Paradise in Heaven to await the time of their resurrection. This is true whether they belong to the Kingdom Church of the future or the Body of Christ Church of the present Dispensation of Grace."
