ASHLAND, Va. - A masked burglar who caused a chaotic, drunken rampage at a liquor store on Saturday was identified as a raccoon.

What we know:

The incident occurred early on Saturday morning at a closed liquor store in the Ashland, Virginia, area.


According to Samantha Martin, an officer who works at the local animal control, the raccoon fell through one of the ceiling tiles.

An employee at the store found the raccoon, which was described as a "trash panda," passed out on the bathroom floor at the end of its "drunken escapade."

Photos of the aftermath showed smashed bottles of scotch and whiskey from the bottom shelf, a collapsed ceiling tile, and alcohol pooling on the floor.

The animal showed no signs of injury and was taken to a local animal shelter to sober up.

They're surprisingly crafty (in some states, people are allowed to get them vaccinated and keep them as pets, and they seem to be similar to cats where they're self-sufficient and can be trained to use a litter box, but their hands are more skilled so they can open fridges and cabinets)

I had a run-in with one back in the day (probably approaching 20 years ago) at my first townhouse, I have funny pictures and a video of it, and I would share them, if it wouldn't be a risk of people reverse image searching it and finding my FB profile lol.

It climbed up to the 2nd floor balcony using the downspout, and proceeded to rip the stuffing out of my patio furniture, and I caught it in the act. It just casually looked at me as it calmly climbed railing, hopped back over to the downspout, and slid down like a fireman's pole.

It came back and destroyed two other chairs, the only thing that finally stopped it was one of those stupid decoy fake coyotes that you can set up
