  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

2) I challenge you to show me any post in support of illegal immigration, terrorists or drug cartels.

About the second part, if you are not 100% supportive of the Presidents mission that used two shots to obliterate a small fast boat with 11 dangerous criminals and enemies of the United States off the coast of Trinidad but clearly heading to the United States thousands of miles away in order to flood our country with dangerous drugs, then yes, you are clearly in the same league as Osama bin Laden and Pablo Escobar.

Just the personal opinion of someone who has no idea of anything of importance. I can't even find Trinidad on a map.

1) you didn't answer any of my questions. So let me repeat:
are you in favour of applying and protecting the rule of law, without ifs or buts and without exceptions?
Do you equate the advocating for the rule of law is loving criminals?
I think there are people making a pretence of advocatating for law in order to condone their support for drug smugglers, cartels and drug lords.
2) I challenge you to show me any post in support of illegal immigration, terrorists or drug cartels.
You seem to think because a made a post that ended up below yours, that it was directed at you. It wasn't. I quote those whom I'm addressing. If you see a stand alone post from me, it's not directed at anyone in particular. And if it doesn't apply to you, then don't act like it does. However if the shoe fits, then wear it. That decision is entirely up to you.

They say for every boat stopped full of drugs headed to the US saves around 20,000 Americans from drug addiction and overdoses. There have been around a million drug death overdoses in the last 25 years. Which is more deaths than in all the major wars of the 20th century.

Musk has a good take on this and I tend to agree.

How many drug overdose deaths per year? Quick Answer

  • Drug overdose deaths in the U.S. surged to over 100,000 per year in 2021 and have remained above that level through 2022 and 2023, the most recent year with available data.

Statistics at a Glance:

  • In 2022, there were approximately 108,000 total overdose deaths in the U.S.
  • Synthetic opioids (primarily fentanyl) accounted for about 68% of all overdose fatalities.
  • The highest state-level death rate in 2022 surpassed 80 per 100,000 people.
  • More than 70% of stimulant-involved deaths were found to include fentanyl as a contributing substance.

It doesn't matter because Trump. Trying to put a stop to drug trafficking and human trafficking has to be viewed as a bad thing because Trump. Plus certain people have always been against any kind of opposition towards drugs. They want no drug laws, and drugs like cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl to be plentiful and readily available at Walmart pharmacies without a prescription and covered by medicaid.

Two things can be true at the same time.

A person can be all for shooting up drug runner boats, and agree that these have been drug runner boats...

...and still be opposed to US sailors breaking the Law of Armed Conflict that requires them to pick up survivors when they shoot up boats.

It's likey that most everyone didn't know that there was a law of armed conflict, until their media made an issue out of it for them. With the intention of making going against drug smugglers as being immoral and illegal. Being against actions taken against crime has always been the theme, from drug trafficking to shoplifting.

No one has that intention. Regardless of the "law of armed conflict" once upon a time it would have been considered an atrocity to sink an enemy vessel and then machine gun the survivors in the water. Once upon a time Christians would have lamented their deaths, even though they were the enemy. I guess we were just just inaccurately informed about the Gospel of Christ.

Kill 'em all, right? OK, this is a Christian forum and it's good of you to instruct us about the Christian position on the incident.

The good ol' Washington Post which seems to be the number one source for agitating certain people to outrage 24/7, reported that Hegseth supposedly gave the order to "kill everybody" which lead to two smugglers being shot to death while clinging onto boat wreckage. Of course there's no official record of such an order being given, and of course the supposed disclosure came by way of the WPs usual anonymous sources. Ever since Watergate and the secret informer they called "deep throat" the WP has had supposed anonymous informants crawling out of the woodwork.

And of course there's also the worn out nonsense that Christinas should have blood gushing out of their hearts over the allegation. And weep bitter tears and put on sackcloth and ashes over the idea of narco terrorist drug smugglers being shot. Or whatever else certain people are putting on a show of being outraged over (which doesn't include those who just let themselves get swept up in it and go with the flow). Where's their Christian EMPATHY? :fearscream::cry::cry::cry:

It's interesting that none of us cultural marxists on the evil left are complaining about the drug boat interdictions in the Pacific. Good work Coast Guard!

No, that was legit. All of the WP's 298757893698678943678437346340 anonymous sources since then however, probably not so.

I didn't say anything about the left. Is this another if the shoe fits situation? Unless there is actual empirical evidence that it actually happened, it's just allegation and hearsay. Which some people unquestioningly gobble up. Personally I think it's just more of the usual fight against any opposition to drugs flowing freely.

I must admit this is a completely different approach. I guess it could be justified and it goes to the heart of the different approaches and views on how we should deal with such issues.

I remember the whole three pronge approach to drugs with prevention which was stopping the drugs coming in. Then education and harm reduction. What ended up happening was only the harm reduction part was ever implemented. This meant injection rooms and drug testing at concerts. Which was more or less saying drugs are ok.

I think there was this unreal idea that if we went soft on crime and drugs and try to understand addicts that somehow this would change them. But addicts being addicts they knew how to play the system and this just made things worse. Its the same idea of cotton wooling kids from lifes realities and responsibilities.

So now that we have seen a generation allowed to get away with anti social behaviour it becomes near impossible to stop the trend. It has got to a point where its completely out of hand.

Now any tough action will be seen as extreme. But perhaps this is the only way now.

Until then it's nothing more than unverified allegation and hearsay. So I'll wait until the armed services committee charges Trump and Hegseth with being war criminals (oh please oh please let it be so).

Really this is just another distraction from the Epstein Files!

I think there needs to be a clear assessment placed in the minds of cartels that the United States is the last place on earth they want to try smuggling drugs into.

The act itself was tacitly admitted by Hegseth when he attributed the order to Admiral Bradley.

...oh really? By pardoning a convicted drug kingpin who turned Honduras into a narco-state? That's quite the message! I'm sure the cartels are quaking in their boots after the mighty USA blows up a few mule boats....
