  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump Says US Will Permanently Pause Migration From 'Third World Countries'

That is a fair and honest answer. So you agree that the limited resources are limited. Would it fair to propose cutting off the flow of incoming immigrants until the limited resources are better allocated to the ones who need it while screening put the ones who are manipulating and taking advantage of it?
No.

By the same token, you could say "hey, let's cut off social security until we've screened out all the frauds". Or "hey, let's cancel all airline flights until we check out those chemtrail claims". We have a screening process in place. We can work to improve it without cutting it off entirely for who knows how long.

Mind you, I'm not opposed to making it more difficult to immigrate to the US. Fine by me. But there are plenty of people who are trying to get here legitimately, and it would be unfair to block them due to an overreaction.

Now, if it turns out that Trump went and fired half the screeners, that's his own fault.

Please list those countries or provide a source. Thank you in advance.
Here is a list of the most Christian Countries by %. Most Christian Countries 2025

Here is a list of the 19 nations that were banned. A Guide to the Countries on Trump’s 2025 Travel Ban List
Here is a list of nations that are not low income.
From google AI which sorted the lists by income, I got these results for full bans
  • Iran (Upper-middle income)
  • Libya (Upper-middle income)
  • Myanmar (Burma) (Lower-middle income)
  • Sudan (Lower-middle income)
  • Syria (Low income, but was middle income prior to civil war)
  • Yemen (Low income, but was middle income prior to civil war)
  • Haiti (Lower-middle income
For partial bans, I got these nations

  • Venezuela (Upper-middle income)
  • Cuba (Upper-middle income)
  • Nigeria (Lower-middle income)
  • Kyrgyzstan (Lower-middle income)
  • Tanzania (Lower-middle income)
  • Laos (Lower-middle income)
  • Sierra Leone (Low income)
  • Togo (Low income)
  • Turkmenistan (Upper-middle income)
  • Burundi (Low income)
I admit I am surprised that some of these nations like Cuba are not low income. But the upper-middle nations make the use of "third world" a poorer descriptor than it already is.

I have it on good authority your tax dollars were used to pay a maintenance work in Yellowstone National Park. I hope that's alright.

It's presumptuous entitlement to think you'd get to manage every cent of the tax dollars given out by the govt.
It's okay to disapprove of how tax dollars are spent in this country and to express that disapproval. Your admonishments of "you are in no position to adjudicate" along with "presumptuous entitlement" are pure poppycock.

If you have not already noticed, the country is hemorrhaging with a multitude of immigrants who have no desire to assimilate, along with a multitude of citizens who just want to suck on the tite of the American tax payer. So frankly, due to failed democratic policies as you have mentioned, we are now in a position where we cannot afford to take on any more leaches of the global society. It is now a situation of whether you contribute to America, or find another gravy train elsewhere. This applies not only to immigrants, but also to U.S. citizens.

So I say "Yes!," let's cut the hemorrhage to deal with our own in-house issues. Then, once we have cut the leaches, we can then address the needs of those outside the country.

Don't know why anyone would want to campaign for welfare leeches (people capable of supporting themselves), and an overflow of illegal immigrants, or an overflow of immigrants period. Do they honestly think that creates a good society?

No, I have not noticed that.

I do notice Americans are not stepping up to fill the labor gap left by Trump's immigration raids. Immigrants are hard working people that understand the value of the dollar. Immigrants have fueld our economy throughout our country's history. Likewise, some Americans have always blamed them for their own lack of perceived progress.

It creates a better society than the crypto-religious corporatocracy that MAGA seems to have in mind.

Great, another liberal who justifies human trafficking and exploiting illegal immigrants for cheap labor. But whatever is necessary to keep strawberry prices low.

No, it's the Right who want to exploit the cheap labor. Asylum seekers and refugees are here under color of law (even if you don't think so) and are protected by US labor law. It's the actual illegals who are being exploited because they are not. That's why, except for the occasional show raid, ICE is leaving them alone. But you already know that.

My grandparents were immigrants and I’m glad they made it to America.

I fail to see how my comments qualify as liberal. After all, people of all stripes, including Donald Trump, have relied on immigrant labor.

Yes the myths the left makes up about the right.
No, that myth was definitely made up buy the right, and being promoted by right-wing garbage factories like Hillsdale 'College and Prager U.

Tell that to the sex slaves and the illegal migrants still paying off their debts to the cartels so you can have cheap produce.

Yeah. Because the moon landing was obviously a hoax. But at least your sources can tell the difference between a man and a woman, which makes them far more credible in my opinion.

Remind me which country is the richest. Hint: It is the only country who is a global super power and the only country to have ever walked on the moon.
