  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes it does. But it effects certain groups more severely than other groups, and studies show that low-income areas suffer the worst fate, because that's where the drug dealers live and sell their products because it becomes their job. Again, this is a known cycle that people prefer not to acknowledge.
but if you do not address the treatment aspect nothing will change those addicts need help at the end of the day where there is a demand there will be some type of supply. Also, there are plenty of poor people wo have lived here for generations that cycle too is HARD to break .

For example, drug and alcohol addiction my dad's side of the family is up to at least four generations that have fought it. His father, his brother, one of his brother's sons and that son's daughter yet we have lived here sense the 1800s Banning alcohol was tried one time failed badly did not even last a score. The drug war has resulted in more drugs people are in and out of incarceration with non-violent drug offenses. What those two things tell me is trying to ban stuff and using JUST incarceration does not work. If incarcerating our way out of the drug problem worked they would have been gone decades ago which is clearly not what happened.

Or maybe people in their 20s, 30s and early 40s are tired of Kumbaya. Maybe they prefer the *responsibilities* a nation ought to have for it's own citizens, and they want to spread that message instead of the global sluff-off-ness of 'anything goes'.
if that were the case why would they not be MAGA by your logic of showing up to Trump rallies?

Trump Announces Halt On Migration From ‘All Third World Countries’

President Donald Trump announced that he will "permanently pause” immigration from all Third World countries and “remove” anyone who is not a “net asset” to the United States.

From Truth Social:

A very Happy Thanksgiving salutation to all of our Great American Citizens and Patriots who have been so nice in allowing our Country to be divided, disrupted, carved up, murdered, beaten, mugged, and laughed at, along with certain other foolish countries throughout the World, for being “Politically Correct,” and just plain STUPID, when it comes to Immigration. The official United States Foreign population stands at 53 million people (Census), most of which are on welfare, from failed nations, or from prisons, mental institutions, gangs, or drug cartels. They and their children are supported through massive payments from Patriotic American Citizens who, because of their beautiful hearts, do not want to openly complain or cause trouble in any way, shape, or form. They put up with what has happened to our Country, but it’s eating them alive to do so! A migrant earning $30,000 with a green card will get roughly $50,000 in yearly benefits for their family. The real migrant population is much higher. This refugee burden is the leading cause of social dysfunction in America, something that did not exist after World War II (Failed schools, high crime, urban decay, overcrowded hospitals, housing shortages, and large deficits, etc.). As an example, hundreds of thousands of refugees from Somalia are completely taking over the once great State of Minnesota. Somalian gangs are roving the streets looking for “prey” as our wonderful people stay locked in their apartments and houses hoping against hope that they will be left alone. The seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, does nothing, either through fear, incompetence, or both, while the worst “Congressman/woman” in our Country, Ilhan Omar, always wrapped in her swaddling hijab, and who probably came into the U.S.A. illegally in that you are not allowed to marry your brother, does nothing but hatefully complain about our Country, its Constitution, and how “badly” she is treated, when her place of origin is a decadent, backward, and crime ridden nation, which is essentially not even a country for lack of Government, Military, Police, schools, etc.

Even as we have progressed technologically, Immigration Policy has eroded those gains and living conditions for many. I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s Autopen, and remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States, or is incapable of loving our Country, end all Federal benefits and subsidies to noncitizens of our Country, denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization. These goals will be pursued with the aim of achieving a major reduction in illegal and disruptive populations, including those admitted through an unauthorized and illegal Autopen approval process. Only REVERSE MIGRATION can fully cure this situation. Other than that, HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL, except those that hate, steal, murder, and destroy everything that America stands for — You won’t be here for long!

Another incident to justify extraordinary use of powers. Let's just add this to the ongoing list.

A lot of addicts are in low income areas, where drugs are introduced to them in their early teenage years. They become life-long addicts, and suffer from psychological distress because of it, their entire lives.

So yes, kids do tend to be weak and decadent, regardless of "where". And turning a blind eye to this ongoing cycle it is not compassionate at all.
It’s crazy how you make excuses for American citizens who choose to do drugs as if they’re some kind of victim when they’re doing this by choice, not because anyone forced them to do it. I know from 25 years of personal experience with doing drugs and I don’t recall ever buying them from immigrants, I bought them from people who were born & raised right here in the US.

They don't want to be called Nazi or fascist. Or worse, attacked by aggressive counterprotesters.

When the proposed solution is to stop all immigration from Madagascar or Bangladesh, I'm going to need to see the logical connection between the one and the other. Seeing things that aren't there is also a problem of faulty vision.
Yeah my wife and two daughters were born in the Philippines, they’ve never touched any drugs in their life. Drugs and violence aren’t even a problem in the Philippines, and yet they’re being lumped into a huge demographic that they don’t even fit into because of their poverty level.

and you bought them from whomever would sell. You did not really care where the drugs came from or where the person who sold them was from. I do tend to disagree with you ( to a certain extent) that drug use is a choice ( other than the first few times but that is in no way, shape or form the subject of this thread.

I worry about American Christians and how Trump is affecting them.

Ezekial 16 49-50
“‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me.

America is becoming the next Sodom and the bolded bits seem to reflect this adminstration. God makes a very clear, [virtual] bullet point list of the sins of Sodom. There are 7 things on that list and only one of them could potentially be assumed to refer to the story of Lot's daughter. But even that story is only a SINGLE event and I haven't heard evidence that the whole town was gay (also strange that they don't focus on the "rape" side of that but...okay).

Here we have third world people getting the shaft from, again, the richest country that has ever existed. And here are Christians defending that.

I don't understand where this lack of concern for those people comes from. God calls us to SPECIFICALLY TARGET TO SUPPORT those people.

I truly doubt that American pre 2010 would feel okay with this move.

Most addicts started using when they were young and stupid. Then they suffer for decades, because of a previous error in judgement. You should know how hard addiction is to beat. It doesn't take long before that one bad choice becomes an absolute necessity. Time is a strange concept, and drugs tango in the in-between.

I think his point was that not everyone in the third world brings in drugs and addicts will buy from whomever they can not just people from x y z country.

We could have the same discussion about alcohol.
