  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My point is that gender identity is a made up "science" and for a society, we shouldn't even have to engage in such nonsense (including wasting money on teachers to talk about it in college).
It is a part of humanity. Whether it is embraced or forbidden, it is not new and historically, cultures around the world have dealt with it.

College students pay for and study what they feel is interesting and important. This is capitalism, not a moral issue.

It's called that uneasy feeling in one's gut when one even thinks about the idea of teaching young children that junk. I'll even go as far as saying it's natural law that says it shouldn't.
Do you think having books that reflect some children's actuality is junk? Some children do have two mommies or daddies. Some children are gay or have gay family members. Obviously, seeing how prevalent this is in nature, it is not against any natural law.

Gender is more than just sexual identity - gene expression and hormones are a huge factor that we are still learning about.

it is not new and historically, cultures around the world have dealt with it.
And those cultures usually killed those types of people. At least here and now, we don't kill people (thank God). We tolerate it to a certain degree and allow the person to live their fantasy. We just ask that they don't shove it in the public face and demand idiotic things like letting them use bathrooms of their preferred choice and trying to indoctrinate the youth of our culture. Keep it on the down-low. It has been working very well in most countries (including here in the US)

I (and millions of others) feel this is a very generous solution. Take it before it is off the table.

College students pay for and study what they feel is interesting and important.
Most students borrow the money to go to these mainly public colleges (alot of it is from tax payer dollars). Just because the majority may want this garbage taught to them, we, as a society, should be able to choose what is moral and taught in those colleges.

If the majority want to study it, then the moral choice has already been made by the students themselves. They are not excluded from ”we, as a society”.

Which should have never been allowed by society.

No, this just shows how sick our society has become and is in need to turn to the One who placed the natural law on our hearts, God.

Gender is more than just sexual identity - gene expression and hormones are a huge factor that we are still learning about.
Pure JUNK science made up by people who are very sick themselves.

When I say society, I mean the people who have wisdom and common sense not irrational college age students. Sorry, I should have clarified that better.

And, obviously, the only people who have "wisdom and common sense" are those who agree with you. Right?

By society then, you mean you and your opinions, and those you disagree with are irrational. Fortunately, society encompasses more than you alone, and universities and their students can decide for themselves.

Every single time religious thought has clashed with science, religion has lost. This will be no different.

This is basically what enabling and handling with kid gloves did with the issues pertaining to the LGBTQ+. It's only going to get worse in our society because of some devious, manipulative, misguided man (Alfred Kinsey) managed to get his wrong ideas noticed by the APA. He opened an evil pandora's box on society.

Yes, continue to convince yourself that it is only a few supposedly narrow-minded people who hold these thoughts. Go ahead and try to make it sound like it's my opinion only. I follow God's word which is filled with wisdom and common sense and millions if not billions of people on this planet disagree with your opinion and point of view.

Regardless, that doesn’t mean that you or others who agree with you get to determine topics of discussion at the university level.

In other words, you want the experts to determine what is taught, right? Those who know the material and what is needed or not needed to be taught. I can concur with that.

No, universities should teach what is true about trans. Trans is a real phenomenon. Trans people exist and always have and societies have dealt with the phenomenon in different ways. Whether you think trans is immoral or not, teaching about trans is not immoral, especially not for teachers who will of necessity have to deal with trans kids in their classrooms.

That's a VERY efficient way of saying you don't know what you're talking about.

I'm a christian and I fundamentally disagree with you and the, frankly, pretty ugly and unchristian things you say about trans folks and anyone related t othe topic.

I told you, science wins. Every single time. That's what happens when one side has evidence.
1 Corinthians 1:18-31

18For the message about the cross is nonsense to those who are being destroyed, but it is God’s power to us who are being saved. 19For it is written,

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
and the intelligence of the intelligent I will reject.”w

20Where is the wise person? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? God has turned the wisdom of the world into nonsense, hasn’t he? 21For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know God,x God was pleased to save those who believe through the nonsense of our preaching. 22Jews ask for signs, and Greeks look for wisdom, 23but we preach the Messiahy crucified. He is a stumbling block to Jews and nonsense to gentiles, 24but to those who are called,z both Jews and Greeks, the Messiahaa is God’s power and God’s wisdom. 25For God’s nonsense is wiser than human wisdom,bb and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.cc

26Brothers, think about your own calling. Not many of you were wise by human standards,dd not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose what is nonsense in the world to make the wise feel ashamed. God chose what is weak in the world to make the strong feel ashamed. 28And God chose what is insignificant in the world, what is despised, what is nothing, in order to destroy what is something, 29so that no oneee may boast in God’s presence. 30It is because of Godff that you are in union with the Messiahgg Jesus, who for us has become wisdom from God, as well as our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. 31Therefore, as it is written, “The person who boasts must boast in the Lord.”hh

You will be proven wrong someday, my friend. Your evidence is even more absurd than you think we Christians hold true and in the end, your evidence and knowledge will be folly.
