  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So whats the rest of the story? I've watched too many people engaged in obstructionist behavior that im tired of people getting away with it. I hope this kid was charged and not just released.
Charged with what? Being an American citizen and saying so?

If they are "primarily" going after criminals, why do so few of those arrested have criminal records? Less than 30% of those detained to date have any prior criminal convictions, and a significant percentage of those are for minor infractions like traffic violations. In Chicago, less than 3% of those arrested in Operation Midway Blitz had criminal records.
FACT: 70% of ICE arrests have involved illegal aliens convicted of, or charged with, crimes. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, 35.7% of the illegal aliens in ICE detention have criminal convictions, 30.5% have pending criminal charges, and the remaining 33.8% are “other immigration violators” — while nearly 70% of those removed from the country have criminal histories. As a result of this unprecedented effort, scores of gang members and national security threats have been taken off our streets.

Pending charges are meaningless - under our legal system, people are assumed innocent until proven guilty. And, given CBP's involvement in the various enforcement operations throughout the country, that article's assumption that persons arrested by CBP are solely border encounters is flawed.

But that's Greg Bovino's superpower!

Deposition of Border Patrol Cmdr. Gregory Bovino went off the rails at hello, transcript shows

The full transcript of Bovino’s deposition was made part of the court record as attorneys in an ongoing lawsuit accused immigration agents with Border Patrol and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of routinely violating a restraining order issued by U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis limiting the use of force against protesters and media.

Ellis blasted Bovino for his antics and answers during the three-day deposition, issuing a scathing 233-page ruling earlier this month that described the tough-talking field general as “evasive” and accused him of “either providing ‘cute’ responses” or “outright lying.”

Yes, that lie that it was about 'removing criminals' and the 'worst of the worst' is a large part of what's motivating the anger.

And then there are the methods being used on noncriminals, legal residents, and citizens.

I am sad to report that the highest response I can give is a "win" response. Because this needs to be said a thousand times over.

A very special holiday edition of "Why do people hate ICE?"

19-year-old college student deported despite judge's order blocking her removal

A 19-year-old college student who was on her way to surprise her family for Thanksgiving break was detained at a Boston airport and later deported despite a federal judge's order blocking her removal, according to her attorney.

Hours after her detainment, court documents obtained by ABC News show that a federal judge ordered the government not to remove the 19-year-old from the U.S. and not to transfer her outside of Massachusetts.

But according to Pomerleau, Lopez Belloza was transferred that evening to Texas and deported to Honduras the next day.
