  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump's history of acts of kindness and generosity

Just for Context:

When Trump gives someone 25,000 dollars, that is the equivalent of me dropping 50 cents into a homeless persons cup (comparing the donation to our net worths)

So I'm wondering, could we start a thread about how awesome I am when I drop a fiver in the Salvation Army bowl?

How low does the bar have to be?

I agree. If this list is correct and President Trump acted kindly, we should thank him for it.

One issue with critics of President Trump is their tendency to criticize indiscriminately, without discerning when it is appropriate. At times, it appears as though they have not considered the lesson from "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." Every action, tweet, or gesture is subject to criticism. Consequently, his supporters are often unreceptive to any critique and may claim that even if President Trump were to cure cancer, he would not receive recognition for it. While targeted criticism on specific issues may not necessarily persuade MAGA supporters, it raises the question of whether it is beneficial to criticize every aspect, especially when the President demonstrates kindness.
You raise a good point.

Sadly, when you make that many mistakes, it is inappropriate to not address them.

This is also a NPD (narcissist PErsonality Disorder) trait.

Pretty much anything isn't going to be good enough for the Trump hate camp, so what's the point? Although probably every little bit of good he does irks them.

It feels good knowing you’re just as tired of hearing about him as we are.
Some people love tripe.

There's no accounting for taste with some.

Of course we should consider a persons good deeds.

The problem with Trump is he also demonstrates an appalling lack of good character that cant be papered over.

History is full of examples of truly awful people who put on a nice side either for the sake of their public image, or to quiet their own conscience. Not saying Trump is exactly on that bottom tier. Just that a list of when a person was nice is insufficient for understanding their character.
