Instead of rehashing their feud, they talked up their areas of agreement — especially on working to make New York City less expensive — and even traded some compliments.

“I think you’re going to have, hopefully, a really great mayor,” Trump said. “The better he does, the happier I am.”

“I appreciated the meeting with the president,” said Mamdani, who stood while Trump sat at the Resolute Desk. “And as he said, it was a productive meeting focused on a place of shared admiration and love, which is New York City and the need to deliver affordability to New Yorkers.”

Trump is easily charmed. He likes good looking winners with winning energy. Trump still can't be trusted, but maybe some of the sharks will swim off and give Mamdani a chance.

Its going to depend on news coverage of the meeting and whether or not Trump is painted in a poor light.

Given how easy it is to flatter its inhabitant into changing his tune, maybe they should rename it the Irresolute Desk.

If the city gets to keep the federal money Trump was threatening, Mamdani's making good on his promises to his electorate.

The Swiss probably didn't need to bring that engraved gold bar to get their tariffs dropped; they coulda used one of those giant-sized Toblerone.

Sure. Mandami has called Trump a fascist, but he would never dare say it to his face. Especially when he is groveling at his feet. How else do you explain why Mandami entered the office as some leftist hero that is going to stick it to Trump, only to come out like a battered housewife trying to keep a positive public image?
