  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pope Leo instructions now is Jesus apparition not true.

Equivocation.
Yes, hidden pagan Greek/Roman mythology and mysticism presented as coming from the Apostles and given a cover with ambiguous language as 'tradition'. Cant get more distorted from truth than that, the Devil is certainly at his best with this subversion.

In fact that which was taught by Jesus and the Apostles that is not contained in Holy Scripture is not of the Devil. Realize that God is far more powerful then Satan, and the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles besides scripture, Sacred Tradition, should not be discounted. Realize too that God is quite capable of miracles and those spiritual encounters that other Christians say they experience, perhaps a moment when they encountered the Holy Spirit and their lives were changed, whether through an apparition or other God-delivered experience, should certainly not be mocked or automatically attributed to Satan just because they are not of one's denomination.

I was just reading from Wisdom this morning. God-breathed text. Actually early Christians, inspired by the Holy Spirit, decided upon 73 books for the Bible. They did so in accordance with the deposit of the faith, which ended with the death of the last Apostle. There were not 66 book Bibles until reformation times when seven books were dropped by men. My point is that the canon of the Bible is not found within Holy Scripture. The 73 book canon comes from Sacred Tradition. Other parts of the faith, such as the Assumption of Mary, are also not explicitly in the Bible. That too is also part of Sacred Tradition. Likewise our understanding of the Holy Trinity is not explicitly in the Bible.
Yes, our understanding of the Trinity is from Scripture.

Jesus brackets together the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as the Triune name of God (Mt 28:19).
Paul uses all three interchangeably (1 Co 12:4-6),
they are linked for prayer for divine (Godhood) blessing (2 Co 13:14),
they are linked in pronouncement of divine (Godhood) blessing (Rev 1:4-5).

Likewise: Eph 4. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all....

Although, the primary text for Trinitarian usage is Matthew 28 as it commanded to be specifically used in every baptism of every Christian.
