It looks like Trump's supposed campaign promise to release the entirety of the Epstein files is based on him saying this in an interview:

“Yeah, yeah, I would. … But I think — less so … because you don’t know — you don’t want to affect people’s lives if there’s phony stuff in there, because there’s a lot of phony stuff in that whole world.” - Donald Trump.

"But I think — less so" sure doesn't sound like a promise to release the whole enchilada. And not really a campaign promise as if he was behind a podium at a campaign rally and declared "I promise that I will declassify and release every bit of information contained in the Epstein files". Even though there are those on the left making it sound that way.

Seems like more of the usual hoaxy misinformation propaganda we've come to expect from the left-wing.

For me it's not about making Trump look better, it's about refuting malarkey that the left makes up. I'll gladly continue doing so long after Trump is enjoying his retirement.

They didn't know that at the time. The meeting was basically a ruse. Trump Jr, Kushner, and Manafort got duped and nothing of significance took place. What you and others are doing is grasping at straws. Russiagate was supposed to involve a whole lot more than just a couple of insignificant meetings, where nothing actually happened. If that's all a two year investigation came up with, then Russiagate was a nothingburger and mostly a hoax.

. But many members of the party are also sick of the months of growing pressure from some vocal members of their own party, including Massie and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, and feel they need to vote in favor of releasing the files or risk being accused of protecting pedophiles.

They knew the Russians were willing to provide Hillary dirt. The Trump position was, as Don Jr said, "if it's what you say I love it especially later in the summer." It seems to me you and some others here have now abandoned the position that these events, along with Manafort's admission, didn't happen to now excusing it because the dirt was never provided.

Yes, they knew that they were Russians. But they were duped into thinking they were going to get dirt on Hillary, when instead Veselnitskaya wanted to talk about sanctions against Russia. You seem to think that my pointing out that they had the meeting to get dirt on Hillary but were suckered, is trying to defend them is some way, which really doesn't make any sense.

But then again, this thread is about the current Epstein files situation, not something else that took place nearly ten years ago.
