  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Border czar Tom Homan strongly opposed the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) “special message” on immigration, saying the statement would encourage people to make a dangerous trek to the United States.

Homan told EWTN News on Nov. 14 that the “Catholic Church is wrong. I’m sorry. I’m a lifelong Catholic. I’m saying it as not only a border czar. I’ll say it as a Catholic. I think they need to spend time fixing Catholic Church in my opinion.”

The bishops approved the message on immigration at the 2025 Fall Plenary Assembly in Baltimore on Nov. 12. “We oppose the indiscriminate mass deportation of people,” the message said.

More than 95% of the American bishops voted to support the message. The bishops said in the message they “are bound to our people by ties of communion and compassion in Our Lord Jesus Christ” and “are saddened by the state of contemporary debate and the vilification of immigrants.”

This was proven false.

Proven? Not a fact either way. Seems likely to most he took the cash, but it was not a crime. https://www.politico.com/news/2025/10/16/tom-homan-50k-sting-operation-00611219
But since the Trump DOJ dropped the case, we may never know, though perhaps some documents will surface later. My apologies if I suggested it was a clear cut case. We have no access to the potential evidence, and Trump seems very soft on some white collar crime. I say that based on his known and factual pardons. it is interesting to note that Homan got a advisory role in the Trump Administration, one that avoided any Senate confirmation. A more prudent administration would be more independent on internal investigations. Instead both sides are far too political. The good news is that as the GOP prosecutes the likes of Bolton, the dems will have their turn at some point to ferret out potential corruption of those in the GOP.

Yeah it was proven. Homan wasn't even in office when this was supposed to have taken place. Accepting
money was not against the law for him, if in fact it happened.

George Stephanopoulos has been caught lying twice so far, and it is well known that he worked in the
Clinton administration and is a staunch democrat and hater of the republicans, especially trump.

Proven is a big word. Only God knows below you have news agencies that have not been sued for libel. If you never did this why would you not sue? Homan does not seem like the soft type that would never sue. Trump would sue in a minute. But still it is speculation. Probably not a crime because either the Trump administration dropped it, or it was entrapment and/or too hard to prosecute. Could be he did not take the money but the: not being in office is invalid because anyone close to Trump could influence contracts and therefore be a target of the FBI.

In my lifetime, I have watched some massive scandals unfold:
"Scope: The federal investigation by the FBI and IRS resulted in convictions or guilty pleas from approximately 240 people, including 110 sitting county commissioners and numerous suppliers across 60 of Oklahoma's 77 counties. It was, at the time, the largest public corruption case in U.S. history." Source google ai

From the 2003-2007 Operation Tennessee Waltz,
Here 11 people were convicted including 4 state legislators.

"The Scheme: FBI agents created a fictitious electronics recycling company called "E-Cycle" and, posing as corrupt businessmen, offered bribes to lawmakers in exchange for favorable legislation and contracts."

So here we have Trump who pardons convictions involving bribery and fraud. Trump seems to make light of these cases. he also "temporary halted the DOJ from charging under the Foreign Corrupt Bribery Act.
Donald Trump pardons former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich (ill. Governor

So proving innocence in the Trump administration comes very difficult to me. I am glad you have faith, perhaps later you will be more realistic. The Epstein files will show you what power can do to leaders. Many are not there to serve. Homan, I can't say either way but I imagine we might find out more when the democrats are back in power. Unless he sues, he can never prove innocence, and of course he does not have to "prove" innocence.

"WASHINGTON, Sept 21 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump's border czar Tom Homan accepted a $50,000 bag of cash from an undercover FBI agent last year in a since-closed U.S. Justice Department bribery investigation, two sources familiar with the matter said on Sunday.
In the alleged scheme, Homan promised immigration-related government contracts when he joined the Trump administration in exchange for the money, the sources said, speaking anonymously to discuss nonpublic investigations."

Homan makes good points. Maybe focus on the welfare of these countries that are causing their citizens to leave.

Mr. Homan is correct. There are legal pathways & laws to follow. I think sometimes people get this impression of Christ that He is trying to just be liberal & liked & thus allow every behavior. No He had a standard. We have trouble deciphering it. All nations must have border laws in order to retain sovereignty. We don't exist as a bunch of tribes on this planet in a vacuum where we can all sit down at the campfire. The reality is that all humans live in tension. I like so many people wait for a 2nd Coming that would dissolve this toxicity. But one has to understand the financial burden place on citizens from this huge transgression. The Democrats allowed this because they want a compliant people to come in & eventually get to the voting booth. This people will do what they're told which is to vote for the hand that feeds. It's Pavlovs dogs. Then you lose all control of society. If they can get freebies, then maybe John Q should not pay his property taxes. Or maybe John Q should go steal a bicycle or rob a bank. Society breaks down if you don't have a decorum. Its all too easy to want to be liked & look benevolent to the people. It's like better to be popular than right. Well being popular is not always correct. This is not a matter of 50 migrants. It's much more. Why should the American people redistribute their hard-earned income now to these people & bring down their own standard of living. They could jeopardize their own ability to eat, pay rent or mortgage, get food, etc. And please don't give me this but if you do great in heaven will be your reward. Tell that to a cancer patient. And the Church does not appear to have an answer to the drug problem, trafficking, & crime. It's like saying don't worry we have the money to pay for the cost on society for the fentanyl. don't worry if someone does too much charity & now can't pay the rent, we will send 2 loaves & 5 fish. It's also easy to see that church attendance has declined & it may appear that these migrants make for easy bait to fill the pews. So it appears everyone has a motive of exploitation. When a society lacks a standard & plays everyone gets a trophy, it degrades the standard. We have our own homeless, our own vets, drug addicts, mentally ill, poor, & even these days middle class.
