• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The auto-pen scandal is going to be massive

Why bring him up? He's an awful human being but a brilliant businessman. How is that remotely relevant to Trump?
Because when he was doing DOGE we were told that he was a terrible businessman too, Tesla stock was overpriced, he didn’t have anything to do with building rockets, his employees were responsible for that, his rockets blew up all the time and in general that he wasn’t successful

Take it up with them. But it has nothing to do with Trump anyway.

Hatred for the man seems off the charts and some of you couldn't give him credit if he cured cancer
This is cute. The current US administration is doing everything in its power to cut back cancer research by billions, as well as cut back pollution standards. They're cancelling mRNA studies when mRNA vaccines could potentially lead to cancer vaccines. The EPA is no longer publishing a mandatory report detailing the amount of climate pollution produced in the US. Guess what happened to the Biden era ruling to limit 'forever' chemicals in drinking water. If you guessed it was reversed in this year 2025, you'd be right. Every guard dog protecting the soil, water and air has been taken out back and shot like it was Kristi Noem's puppy.

There is no bigger friend to cancer and pollution than the current Trump administration. All while paying lip service to the idea of Making America Healthy Again. It shouldn't surprise you to learn who the US chemical industry has been donating a lot of money to. Oh they took away some artificial dyes? That's adorable. How about restoring funding to the research, studies, and agencies they've cut? The agencies that were specifically set up to protect Americans from being poisoned by the industrial complex. The research and studies that are vital to the curing of diseases but were defunded because Fox "News" kept making fun of shrimp on treadmill type "silly" studies. You are being ruled by idiots making the dumbest decisions in pursuit of profits and they will step over your corpse without batting an eye.

So this frequently returning talking point of 'well Trump could cure cancer and libs would still be mad about it' is the epitome of irony. It truly is. You really need to delete this from your repertoire. Honestly I feel vicarious embarrassment whenever it comes up. Like I'm embarrassed for you that you would write this unironically. Trump could post an AI generated video where he goes around like Papa Nurgle spreading a miasma of sickness and death across the land and his sycophants would still claim that's him curing cancer. The administration is lying to you at every turn and you're being deceived by propaganda outlets. They're not looking out for you. They're only looking out for them.

And some of you couldn't say a cross word about him if he was convicted of raping a woman.

The difference between our two statements is that mine was born out as an event and yours is not only hypothetical but...just not gonna happen.

I'm not bothered, this is a forum, we talk about things like this.
Hatred for the man seems off the charts and some of you couldn't give him credit if he cured cancer

Saying another person's opinion is based on hatred is questioning their motive. It's poor form and a sign of a weak argument.
You're making a lot of assumptions about me, and most are wrong

Then I suggest you stop making assumptions about others.

You are assuming that the hate Trump receives is unearned or new. @ranunculus just went through a mere one area (directly related to your "cancer cure" quip) of reasons why. New Yorkers learned to hate Trump in the 70s and 80s. Even to a teenager in the rural Midwest, he was obviously a scummy rich guy in the late 80s when he became nationally famous. (No one need to tell me that alt-timeline 1985 Biff Tannen and his casino were modeled on Trump. [They were.] It was obvious.)

Well maybe it's his own fault but some criticize everything he does just because he's the one doing it

Musk ran DOGE. DOGE was a disaster. It never cut the amounts of money they said they would, even then they pulled back on those numbers. Recall the Musk political rally where it was announced all these impending arrest....and then crickets. There were more costs to be saved if they just kept the department IGs in place and followed their cost saving assessments. Instead they hired kids who didn't know you know what from apple butter. And now what little savings they found will cost the tax payers all the lawsuit of all those wrongly employees fired.

What does that have to do with his success as a businessman?

Because that idea of being a businessman was why he led DOGE.....again, badly. To a lot of people the same with Trump. Elected because he was businessman. Albeit a bad one and that is bearing itself out.

I'm not defending either of them, just pointing out that because of their politics everything about them is deemed wrong and negative. Trump brings it on himself but some people are against everything he does simply because he is the one doing it.
And because Musk was involved in DOGE then there were posts suggesting that he really wasn't a good businessman, he wasn't really the richest man in the world because Tesla stock was overpriced, he wasn't really smart because his employees did all the work and he wasn't really successful because some of his rockets failed. Now he's set to become the first trillionaire

Private sector and public sector are two different things. Both Trump and Musk are where they are to a large degree given the apparatus that exists in the public system. Bankruptcy protections for one, and government policy and contracts for the other. But I think you touch on something that applies to both of them, they both bring the ill will on themselves by themselves.

It is to the point of absurdity, pregnant women were making videos taking Tylenol because Trump suggested that they shouldn't
