  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

John 20:
19
Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace with you.”
20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.
21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.
23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

Jesus presents Himself to His disciples, and finds them in a state of fear and turmoil.
He restores them with a breath, declaring, “Peace Unto You”.
What was accomplished, and what remained to be confirmed of The Promises?
How does the Church maintain stewardship over this Word of the Lord?
Referring to the Gift, its purpose and practical application for the Church.

"My Peace I give unto you, not as the world gives..."

What was accomplished
Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

Therefore the clear lesson from the day of Pentecost is that the corporate baptism, or Anointing on an Assembly occurs after they have conformed themselves to the Spirit of Unity in the bond of peace. To be "endued with power" requires purpose and surrender among Saints in Fellowship. All receive the Promise as 'the called', those who commit and submit are chosen.

Ephesians 4:
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

2 Peter 3:14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; 15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation...

So is Acts 2:44-45 and Acts 4:32, following Jesus's instructions in Luke 12:33, still required for us today, to be like the Acts 2 church?

The Gentile Churches were instructed to provide support for the Saints in Judea, as they were struggling under the persecution that arose after Stephen's martyrdom. The long term expectation was for those who had the means to support those without, bearing one another's burdens .
2 Co 8:
8 I speak not by commandment, but I am testing the sincerity of your love
by the diligence of others. 9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. 10 And in this I give advice: It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and were desiring to do a year ago; 11 but now you also must complete the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have. 12 For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.

13 For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened; 14 but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack—that there may be equality. 15 As it is written, “He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.”

Romans 15:
26
For it pleased those from Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are in Jerusalem.
27 It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things.

So something has changed after Paul wrote his letters to us.

If that is the case, why should we expect the same signs and wonders the Acts 2 church had?

This has nothing to do with the topic. Please go fishing somewhere else.
