  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The state of Alabama on Thursday executed convicted murderer Anthony Boyd by nitrogen gas just hours after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to consider requiring the state to execute him by firing squad instead.

Boyd reportedly took around 20 minutes to die from the execution method, according to the Associated Press. The news wire said he “clenched his fist, raised his head off the gurney slightly, and began shaking,” after which he became still but continued with a series of “heaving breaths” for “at least 15 minutes.”

The Alabama man was convicted of capital murder in the 1993 killing of Gregory Huguley in Talladega County. Huguley was taped up, doused with gasoline, and set on fire.

Boyd proclaimed his innocence until the last minutes of his life. “I didn’t kill anybody. I didn’t participate in killing anybody,” he said on Oct. 23 prior to being executed.

I am 99% anti death penalty. I know some death row inmates still issue orders to the outside. Some are hits on enemies. Those criminals should die.
On another note, I don’t get all the mistakes that happen. Why can’t they just shoot them up with enough morphine to get the job done? It happens all the time in hospitals.

Makes sense to me!

Second or third time in a row this is intentional.

Take a full deep breath of nitrogen and you're out.
God has judged him justly.

That is all.

except usually people who insist they are innocent even up to the day they are executed.. often turn out.. are innocent. I personally don't have a good feeling about this guy was guilty.

This is also why I have a serious issue with the death penalty. Innocent people have been executed, and that is inexcusable.

And it took 32 years which is ridiculous.
pretty normal in a sense.

at 50 grand a year 32 years is 1.5 million dollars. a human life is valued by the epa and other federal agencies at 8 to 12 million dollars, then there is the risk analysis of executing the wrong guy and getting sued on top of that.

at only 50 grand a year to keep the person in prison it costs less to keep them in prison than the risk of a lawsuit or the effect of their future labor on society after they are released.. so that's one of the reasons for so few executions.

As for human life, I had a conversation with a friend who went to India several months ago, turns out he saw 32 dead bodies on his trip. i was somewhat supprised he counted them and remembered every one he saw.

some things.. stick with you. personally, if i was to get into the execution buisness.. i would resign if i was in charge of asphyiating a person with nitrogen and couldn't do it in 30 seconds.

rule 34. i don't ask you to google that. if you want too you can probably easilly find survelance video of someone collapsing into a pit of nitrogen or co2 or argon, they pass out almost instanly and there is no twitching.
