  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

White House begins demolishing East Wing facade to build Trump’s ballroom

View attachment 371837

Demolition crews have begun tearing down part of the White House to build President Donald Trump’s long-desired ballroom despite his pledge that construction of the $250 million addition wouldn’t “interfere” with the existing building.

Construction teams Monday were demolishing a portion of the East Wing, with a backhoe ripping through the structure, according to a photo shared with The Washington Post and two people who witnessed the activity and spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe it.

“It won’t interfere with the current building. It won’t be. It’ll be near it but not touching it — and pays total respect to the existing building, which I’m the biggest fan of," Trump said during an executive order signing in July.
I mean yeah; Trump is crass and gaudy but this is simply another indicator of how much an amusement park America has become.

Obama was opposed to gay marriage the same way Trump was opposed to Project 2025.
So you're saying...there was a time in Obama's adult life when he had never heard of homosexuality? ;)

What makes it worse is the HYPOCRISY, because he was opposed to gay marriage a couple of years before the proud light up.
Politicians will do anything for votes. It’s really not that surprising. People are also allowed to reflect and modify their views to “get with the times” as they say ;)

Once you have given your vote (power) away there is no taking it back.

That’s been dead for decades.
Even if it was real, Trump wouldn’t need the money because he’s a billionaire anyway. He has more years behind him than ahead of him, he’s probably focusing on his lasting legacy, which in the mind of many, won’t be very positive or productive….

I think that for many rich people, "needing" money is not what it's about. They have spent their entire life accumulating wealth and/or power, so they just continue. It's like a drug habit.

But yeah, Trump is obviously looking to build a legacy, and perhaps even trying to have a positive influence in the world (in his view). That's why he's angling for the nobel peace prize and is rebuilding washington.
