  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

He might be in on it. If the work culture allowed that kind of talk the manager probably fosters it.
Maybe the guy talks about you online or elsewhere.
I’m lucky. I work in a place that’s so woke even I have to think before I say some of the things I’d say to my friends in normal conversations.
I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. It must be a little like living in Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia.

Those rallies were sponsored by big money with the goal of destabilizing our republic.
Yeah I would imagine a giant nationwide day of protest would require some planning and funding. No different from the March for Life rallies.

How does a giant peaceful protest destabilize a country with a constitutional right to protest? Explain that one to me.

This type of unhinged action was far too common in these rallies.
So what? There was a gallows erected at the Jan 6 rally and that was before they broke in and vandalized the Capitol.

These were not organic protests by concerned citizens.
No one claimed they were organic. Obviously it has to be planned ahead, permits issued, ideas for specific projects and demonstrations. This wasn’t the first No Kings protest and it won’t be the last either.

There were paid agitators leading misguided uninformed sheep.
Oh, who paid for it?

Yes, Kirk was a very smart young man. In America each year, over two and a half million people, including children, are killed or seriously injured by vehicles, but we don't ban cars due to their importance in modern society.
Look at you, changing the subject!

I did see some from the right in attendance but they were holding microphones and cameras documenting the unhinged behavior prevalent in the bought and paid for rallies.
Which rallies were bought and paid for, and who did the paying?

Please provide proof of monetary transfers.

ikr? That's why all the Jan6ers showed up armed with deadly assault smart phones.
Why would they need weapons? They were waiting for Mike Pence to “do the right thing” and prevent the certification of Biden’s election.

And that didn’t stop it from turning deadly either.

My participation came from several months of planning.

Are you saying that Trump is going to make full and immediate expensing for capital investments from the tax cuts and jobs act permanent in the name of Christian principles?
No, in the name of what the Christian Right thinks are Christian principles.

What fallout, and how can I prepare?

Why would you prepare for a fallout if you believe in the government and the president?

I think you're wrong there. I think you should believe in him. He's the best king America's ever had.

I believe he’ll honor his commitments to his donors and associates which have reciprocal benefits. But I’m not enamored with elitists.

You have a choice of hands? And you play the one you're willing to lose? I don't understand that. Seems like you'd want to play the one you're most likely to win with.

All perspectives carry risks. For example, you’ve aligned yourself with the president and will probably make decisions along the lines of the positions he promotes. Which may result in favorable circumstances or not and from a gambling perspective you’re all-in. While I placed my bet on the money and ignored the rest because he isn’t trustworthy. He doesn‘t have the liberty of ignoring his donors because they funded him.

Are you saying that Trump is going to make full and immediate expensing for capital investments from the tax cuts and jobs act permanent in the name of Christian principles?

Heavens no. Are you being facetious? ~lol

All of the policies mentioned were derived from the Heritage Foundation. I don’t believe they were composed with christians in mind nor does the term appear in the policies as I recall. The largest benefactors of what they propose are the wealthy. Which is traditionally defined as someone with a minimum of $1 million dollars in liquid assets excluding their home.

That includes high net worth individuals, ultra high net worth individuals, centi-millionaires, billionaires and so on.

If she’s receiving death threats simply for making a stupid joke then yeah, she is a victim. A very dumb victim but nonetheless, her gesture doesn’t merit violent threats.
I agree. No one deserves death threats.

That’s an impression I find really to marry to reality over here.

I’ve never felt any inclination to engage in hate speech or threaten murder so I’ve never felt the impact of our (UK) laws about what can and cannot be said in public.

I’ve even been an ‘agent of the state’ (in a way) when I’ve had to advise my patients that certain things they say void confidentiality and will be passed on the relevant authorities.

And trucks full of weapons at the ready.
One truck. One 71 year old man. No known political affiliation, and no known participation at the capitol. Also in the truck was contact info for Ted Cruz, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin. Sounds like possibly another leftist terrorist to me.

So is making full and immediate expensing for capital investments from the tax cuts and jobs act permanent un-Christian or anti-Christian?

You said there's going to be some kind of fallout. You usually seem to know what you're talking about, and I don't know how my beliefs would prevent it.
I believe he’ll honor his commitments to his donors and associates which have reciprocal benefits. But I’m not enamored with elitists.
I've seen zero evidence that he's an elitist other than that time he ate pizza with a fork. But then some New York pizzas can be a bit flaccid.
This paragraph is really over my head. No idea what you're saying.

Then can you answer the original question about what he's going to do in the name of Christian principles?

Is that something you're forced by law to do, or are you just being a faithful comrade?

You believe in Trump and have chosen to support him. If he isn’t addressing a fallout why would you be concerned? It doesn’t matter what I know. I don’t have a pressing desire to save his supporters from themselves. And given the policies they’ve okayed that transgress the Lord’s teachings on the poor, widows, and orphans. Why should wickedness be reprieved?
