  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Nobel Peace Prize went to Venezuela’s Maria Corina Machado - why not Trump? He's solved 8 wars!

Trump was elected because people were fed up with the government not listening and politicians not doing what they ran on when they ran for office.

Trump really does listen to the average voter, plus he works towards fulfilling election platform policy agendas as opposed to ignoring them once in office.
Well, the average voter doesn' t seem to be too happy with the way things are going.

'Nearly two-thirds of Americans believe the U.S. is headed in the wrong direction, fueled by dissatisfaction with President Trump's impact on the economy, immigration, race relations and the nation's global standing, according to a new poll with a big, broad sample.

Even among Republicans, a significant share — nearly 30% — gave Trump low marks on the economy and how the government is functioning.'

When it didn't matter who you voted for you were getting the exact same bankrupt policies people got fed up. Trump really does listen to the average voter, plus he works towards fulfilling election platform policy agendas as opposed to ignoring them once in office.
The average voter didn't vote to dismantle the CDC and the attempt to push medical research out of the US. The average voter didn't vote to all put end the government helping everyone with weather forecasts. The average voter didn't to vote to reduce childhood vaccinations and research to deal with disease and future pandemics. The voters did not vote for measles to be returned as a childhood disease to be feared again, with polio to return in the near future as childhood vaccinations are less prevalent. Are we to be comforted by the fact that the effects will be states that voted for Trump and supposedly want this sort of nonsense to take place?

I agree that the average voter DOES want a smaller federal government and does want more decision-making to be made in the states.

Clinton-Gore with Gingrich pushing them, essentially had a task force do an efficiency study of the federal government and make recommendations with regard where to cut positions and where to improve processes. 360,000 jobs were cut, the government was more efficient, there were no lawsuits and we had a federal government surplus.

I believe both Nixon and Reagan had revenue sharing where social welfare monies were sent to the states and school districts. The locals then made the choices of where to spend the money.

To be honest, many voters, whether average or informed, cast their ballots without fully understanding the promise was made during campaign. Some focused only on what they wanted to hear, rather than everything President Trump promised during his campaign.

Wall Street and Silicon Valley donors and voters supported President Trump's tax cuts but overlooked his campaign promise to impose tariffs. Now they say , "I did not vote for a blanket tariff on global trade."

MAGA farmers who supported President Trump in 2024 expected him to deport undocumented immigrants from other farms, but not those working on their own farms.

Joe Rogen thought the sign “Mass Deportation” on GOP convention was Christmas decoration with red and white. He didn’t think ICE would be deployed door to door in Chicago.

Cuban Americans in Miami believed that President Trump would implement strict immigration policies for Mexican and Nicaraguan immigrants, while being more lenient toward Cuban migrants.

Americans express support for smaller government and budget reductions, but reconsider when experiencing long wait times at government offices due to staffing shortages.

Many American liberals and conservatives form their voting decisions based on what they want to hear rather then what has been said. But when policies they supported have a negative impact on them, they change their mind.

I agree with all but the Wall Street Donors and Silicon Valley donors. These folks did know what to expect, perhaps better than many in Trump's own campaign. Large donors often have top financial advisors helping them make their choices.

And, just BTW, Silicon Valley and Wall Street are doing well under Trump.
