  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A state by state analysis--he's even underwater in Texas, along with all the swing states, and barely hanging on in Florida. Was it the "dump" on NYC Saturday that made people realize "Hey, we--the 99%--are the ones being dumped on?"

And actually woke has a positive definition in Merriam Webster, while noting that the word has been maligned by detractors.

What to Know
Woke is now defined in this dictionary as “aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice),” and identified as U.S. slang. It originated in African American English in the first half of the 20th century and gained more widespread use beginning in 2014 as part of the Black Lives Matter movement.

7 million took to the streets Saturday. This awakening is making me happy.

I had to do a long drive that day and I wasnt aware it was happening until too late. That said, I was really happy to drive by vibrant peaceful protests in areas I thought were all maga.

Aren't these the same polls that said Hillary and Kamala would become president?

The no kings protests were great to see but if people are really serious we need a nationwide general strike now. Don’t let the momentum fizzle out or wait to see what happens in the midterms.

A general strike would likely get the Congress’ and Senate’s attention…maybe March of 2026?

It puts paid to "the Left hates America" crap.
Well, perhaps it was at least therapeutic for liberals who had nothing better to do.

Who is going to strike? Most of the people protesting were retired white people.

The same thing Jan 6 accomplished but on a much bigger scale and with a lot less violence towards police.

The right is going to have a big midterm problem on their hands if they’ve now lost the retired white people community.

The only people who participated in those protests Saturday were people who were never ever going to vote for a GOP person. IMO, those protests accomplished nothing except reveal to some Americans how hateful and radical some of those protesters really are.

So the answer you are looking for is "nothing."

If there were 10 Republicans who voted for Trump in any of the rallies other than to document the lunacy, I would be shocked.

You're wrong. What gave Harris a loss of less than 1% (a micro-tragedy, not a mandate) were people stayng home. The candidate change really hurt.

A lot of them now have skin in the game, having been fleeced by inflation, tariffs, budget cuts, health costs.
People who've been fleeced register their displeasure.

And while i, being a "just one look, that's all it took" am shocked it took them so long, they are welcome.

Yes it was. And for some conservatives, too. I went to one in my red state and talked with some MAGA farmers there, for instance. who were not very happy about Trump's plan to give 40 billion to Argentina. The Democrats were screwing over the working class and Trump got a big swing vote. Now Trump is screwing over the working class while trying to bedazzle them with his Culture War circus. But that show is getting old and people are beginning to look past it. The Democrats, of course, are baffled, and don't know what to do next. o_O

As someone else said "it made me feel comforted that I wasn't living in a country that had lost our collective minds"

Giving people who don’t ordinarily get up off their butts to go to a political rally an opportunity to see how many like-minded people there are, was probably a benefit.
