During the entire Israel/Hamas war, or Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip, the leaders of Hamas were living in luxury in Qatar. Trump’s order puts Qatar “on par with our NATO allies.” Then came the incredible news that Qatar will be allowed to build, or take possession of, a military base in Idaho. Huh?


The USA, and the American people get nothing out of this, but it gets worse. “Back in April, a Trump-owned company struck a deal to open a vast golf resort in Qatar.”

Even if true, that's not an excuse for corruption. It just means we have more people to investigate.

It will be a short conversation. You can throw in GW Bush while your at it and get all of the 21st century presidents. In fact the only president or VP in my life time that I can think getting paid personally as president is VP Spiro Agnew, who was taking cash bribes in the WH complex. (Mostly as I recall for his work as Governor of Maryland.) Even Nixon at most tried to stretch the definition of "taxable deduction" when overvaluing his papers before donating them to the National Archives.

We are talking about receiving money *as President*, not after, and not campaign donations.

Trump is unapologetically unprincipled and lacking in character. The guy loves money above all else and has a middle school mentality. That's his brand and he revels in it. Corruption and vice have been part of the package for decades. Unfortunately, none of this matters to his constituents.

They seem to regard politics as inherently dirty and their strategy is to have the dirtiest guy on their side. An approach that has worked to an extent, but stands to backfire badly in my opinion. Ill gotten gains don't have as strong a foundation as those obtained with integrity.

The previous administration was also corrupt, but Trump takes the cake.

Donald Trump accepted a personal gift from Qatar, the Emir of Qatar, of a jet worth around $400 million (and probably a Trojan Horse.) If you totaled up every bribe in Amreican history before Donald Trump took office for his second term, would they add up to $400 million? I doubt it.

I don't have to defend Obama or Biden but I don't know anything even remotely similar when they were in office.

Yes, Qatari gave Hamas money. It makes no sense. That people are fine with this. He wants to bail out Argentina, he let Argentina win our Soybeans account from China.
