  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Whatever wrongdoing p

Since you declared "Please avoid whataboutism; I'm not interested" you shouldn't be bringing Trump's conviction into this.
Thank you for telling me what I should do or what I shouldn’t do.

However, this does not alter the reality that 78 million Americans voted for an individual with 34 felony convictions, suggesting that they prioritize economic considerations, such as lower gas prices, over rule of law.

So you've already said, but it doesn't have anything to do with John Bolton being indicted.

As I mentioned in my previous post, it appears likely that Bolton is guilty. The only reason the Biden administration ended the investigation against him may have been to prevent highly classified operations in Iran from being exposed to the public.

However, it is questionable for individuals who voted for a person convicted of 34 felonies to assert that no one is above the law in America. The 78 million Americans who supported a candidate with a criminal conviction may find it difficult to justify their claim of supporting the rule of law. Their votes could be interpreted as prioritizing political alignment over adherence to legal principles in the United States.

And then 78 million American rewarded him the highest office in the country. If you consider that sentence, imagine what others might learn from it; in America if someone commit crime may result in significant rewards.
78 million Americans knows that those felonies were nothing more than lawfare.

If there are people dissimulating classified information to family members, or knowingly doing so to reporters even to the point of telling the reporters they shouldn't be showing them this, or to foreign nationalists at a resort; they should be indicted for those actions.

78 million Americans knows that those felonies were nothing more than lawfare.

For centuries, the United States has been recognized for its democratic principles, impartial judiciary, and adherence to the rule of law. In recent decades, public reactions to judicial decisions sometimes reflect agreement with outcomes that align with personal views, while opposing verdicts are occasionally questioned for impartiality or judicial activism.

The prosecution of President Trump during the Biden administration has led to discussions about potential concerns regarding prosecutorial conduct and perceptions of political bias, as well as the conviction's details. The American justice system provides avenues for individuals to appeal convictions and seek legal remedies if necessary.

If prosecution against President Trump involved bias or prosecutorial misconduct, the matter should be litigated through the judicial system, potentially up to the Supreme Court. Voters who aim to challenge judicial outcomes through election choices may inadvertently indicate doubts about the impartiality of the judiciary and the nation's commitment to respecting legal processes.

That's where John Bolton is at fault. Although some will turn this into a political issue, his indictment by the Trump administration is not entirely political.

Unless the Trump admin is not doing the same to everyone who dissimulates classified info to those they shouldn't, then one can argue it is political.

...except people elected president.

Half of Americans are below average.
What I have seen in last 30 years, the other side isn't much different. If a Democratic nominee had 34 felony convictions and was running against a Republican, half the country would still vote for the democratic nominee.

Not every white-collar crime is prosecuted; it's up to the discretion of the judicial system. If some white-collar crimes go unprosecuted, that doesn't mean none can be prosecuted.

It's up to DOJ to indict and prosecute. I think I should clarify. Trump has done the same as Bolton on two occasions. Once to reporters while knowingly mentioning to reporters he shouldn't be showing them this. Another was to a foreign nationalist at his resort. And if they ever make available the pending IG report of Hegseth and "Signal leak" he too will be found dissimulating classified information to people without classified status.

False:
from a simple AI search -

Indictments in the United States typically come from a grand jury, not directly from the Department of Justice (DOJ). The DOJ, through its prosecutors (like U.S. Attorneys or Assistant U.S. Attorneys), presents evidence to a grand jury, which then decides whether there’s enough evidence to issue an indictment. An indictment is a formal charge accusing someone of a crime.

Here’s how it works:
  • Federal Level: In federal cases, the DOJ investigates and gathers evidence through agencies like the FBI, DEA, or ATF. DOJ prosecutors then present this to a federal grand jury, which issues the indictment if probable cause is found.

That's right. Just like a grand jury indicted Trump on all those felony charges, Bolton was also indicted by a grand jury. It's not lawfare, and we should take such indictments very seriously.

The DOJ presents a case to a grand jury. From your own blurb:
