  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yeah - that Epstein thing married to QANON what about 25% of Americans now seem to believe - it's the conspiracy theory that Trump played to during the campaign. But then someone whispered to him what was IN those files - and is he going to release them? You bet not! So he's annoyed the foaming-at-the-mouth, rifle going into a Pizza shop internet tinfoil hat types.

As for his being an NPD demagogue? That's not a conspiracy theory. That's just a fact. He just is. The way he speaks and appeals to a voter base with baser instincts, and his antics around "Eating the dogs", "Poisoning the blood", "Sending their rapists and murderers" (to tarnish a whole massive minority that is MORE law abiding than the average American born citizen) - that's demagogue 101 according to sociologist text books.

Here's the wiki on Democratic backsliding - just tick these off in your head as you read them?

Trump’s campaigning and government style reek of authoritarian strategies. His rhetoric uses the tricks of the fascists of the 20th century:

CONFIRMATION BIAS and flattery of certain parts of the population by playing the saviour and strongman that will fix the country’s woes.

STRONG MAN language: - tapping into the vulnerable and confused workers desire for answers - their wish for a super-hero like figure to act out THEIR OWN frustration on the world! “I will be your vengeance.” Etc. Psychologically it’s called Identification with the aggressor.

THE BLAME GAME / SPLITTING / OTHERING: Finding a group to blame for all society’s ills. Immigrants took your jobs, radical socialist left assassinates everyone (when the statistics show the right does this 5 times more!) “They’re eating the dogs”, etc.

PROPOGANDA LORDS: Try to control information. Banning comedians, intellectuals from discussing certain things, attacks on universities, attacking the free press. Sound familiar?

These are unpacked on this excellent page:-

You are really hooked on the Epstein conspiracy angle aren't you.

It's just one of the many delightful things about Donald Trump lying to the world, and the far right lapping it all up like gold.

In the meantime it might be good to brush up on how much undocumented immigrants contribute to GDP, and how much less crime they commit than the average American-born citizen. It makes sense. The undocumented immigrants have come from such horrible circumstances and risked incurring the wrath of the world's richest superpower, by entering illegally, that they just want a chance to hunker down and keep their nose clean.

They want to live a calm, quiet, safe life where their teenage daughters will not be kidnapped!

And Trump calls them the rapists! So he's going to send in the national guard to beat up on poor families that have already been traumatised. What a Christian nation! What a compassionate policy!

I think you should focus on your own country instead of ours.

Australia Passes Harsh New Anti-Migration Laws

Just think how much better it would be if those workers were documented and we were able to make sure the rapists and murderers and gang members and cartels were not coming with the normals.

They wouldnt have to hunker down at all. That would be better for them and us.

Thats a bit over dramatic. The NG will be there to protect the agents.

Its your kind of rhetoric that will get people hurt.

No doubt, but sometimes free speech is like that--you speak even if you risk your opponent hurting you for it.

I'm concerned about everyone. His kind of rhetoric is going to be part of people attacking the NG. And the NG who are there to protect the agents will respond.

Someone, the NG or other citizens attacking them will.get hurt. This is a prime example of the concerns I have with this kind of rhetoric. It amps people up into thinking that they are justified in attacking their fellow citizens who happen to be doing their jobs becauae they think they are their enemies. Then the others end up defending themselves and someone gets hurt.

No citizen in this country would put up with driving down the street and having other citizens attacking them. These moronic protestirs wouldnt put up with the attacks they put on others.

I'm sorry, but the people in these areas are out of control and violent. And its the rhetoric they have been inundated with and the support they receive from their own side has emboldened them to be that way. And I think many on their side WANT people to get hurt so they can justify more violence.

Oh we DEFINITELY have our own human rights violations to answer for!
But Australia's little. America's got the biggest military in the world - and Trump's NPD means we could be in the next equivalent of the Cuban Missile Crisis if he misses his narcissistic supply one morning.
Just think how much better it would be if those workers were documented and we were able to make sure the rapists and murderers and gang members and cartels were not coming with the normals.
All of which are at LOWER rates than the American-born population - which you keep avoiding.
They wouldnt have to hunker down at all. That would be better for them and us.
You forget - the hunkering down is what they want.
A hardworking quiet life - and to be left alone.

It's a shame Americans do not have the same attitude - and have so much more crime and rape and theft and murder in their population!
I heard that Americans were 'eating the dogs' - and had double the rapists and thieves and murderers of the average immigrant!

Because that is what the studies above show.
Which you studiously avoided.
MAGA - the party that doesn't disagree with the Democrats over policy, but over reality itself.

What about "they're sending their rapists"
"They're poisoning the blood"
"They're the worst - they're not even humans - I call them animals"
They're eating the dogs."

Isn't THAT the rhetoric that gets people riled up and violent? Oh wait - but that might imply he's dog whistling to white supremacists - we can't have that! The President of the United States of America would never say anything that blatant!

"Proud Boys - stand back and stand by."
No wonder they claimed him as one of their own!
I'm sorry, but the people in these areas are out of control and violent.
These people see the families they care about seized by men in masks.
When was the last time I saw a show with that many men in masks just grabbing people off the street?
Oh yeah... nothing to see here - move along!

But at least Portland have their own men in masks!

"Frogs, stand back and stand by!"

I don't believe it. But even if it were true its irrelevant. Americans we HAVE to put up with. What we DON'T have to put up with are those from other countries.
You forget - the hunkering down is what they want.
A hardworking quiet life - and to be left alone.
Then they should come legally.
Because that is what the studies above show.
The studies are bogus. Ive already discussed that.

Which Americans? I bet you know which ones per capita are doing the crime. The question is, would you admit it.

Yeah those criminals are animals. Anyone who is a rapist, murderer, drug dealer, cartel member, child traffickers, sex trafficker is nothing more than an animal.
Isn't THAT the rhetoric that gets people riled up and violent?
Nope because we aren't seeing a huge increase in violence against the illegal immigrants by those who dont support it. But we are seeing an uptick in violence from those who DO support illegal immigration. Yeah its the lefts rhetoric that is helping to cause that.

And I personally do not support any rhetoric. Some of Trump's rhetoric is certainly too much for my taste.
"Proud Boys - stand back and stand by."
Yeah he was try to get them to back off.
You are getting pretty silly now.
These people see the families they care about seized by men in masks.
Irrelevant.
When was the last time I saw a show with that many men in masks just grabbing people off the street?
You think this is star wars now? I cant wait to see Trump start shooting lightning out of his fingers.

Man equating the picking up of illegal aliens with the Empire which controlled the Universe with an iron fist and a death star is a bit hysterical.

It's not a conspiracy theory to point out what NPD is and does!

It's just a medical fact. As the article I linked to says:

A second psychologist, Dr Vince Greenwood, says people with Trump’s condition “exhibit a grandiose sense of self import, derive pleasure from causing harm, and are incapable of caring about other people’s feelings.”
And a third, Dr Diane Pomerantz, continues the explanation by adding: “This explains Donald Trump’s pathological lies, misogyny, his admiration for dictators and his criminal behavior.”
The advertisement concludes with a psychologist named Dr John Gartner stating that Trump “has no choice but to be a malignant narcissist,” and adding that voters can choose whether to put him back in the White House — or not...
...“If it wasn’t clear by his erratic, self-obsessed behavior, his pathological lying, his lack of moral conscience, his assaults of women, and his blatant disregard for the safety of others, more than 200 experts agree that he is unfit for office,” Conway said. “Voters need to recognize the threat we face electing this deranged man.”
NPD in the Oval Office is just plain dangerous.

The immigrant studies are not bogus just because you assert they are.
They come from the best analysis of various credible government department data.
It's not my fault you don't want to hear the reality - I'm just the messenger.

But - now that you KNOW (even though you're denying it publicly) that aliens should SHOULD ACTUALLY fear theft and rape and murder from AMERICANS at up to four times the rate Americans might fear that from aliens - you are a more informed adult.

You're welcome.

You just love the conspiracy theories. I just dont have to listen or believe in them. It must be an interesting world you live in.

Over 200 mental health experts published a public letter warning American not to vote for Trump. After watching thousands of hours of footage across decades, they had a warning. He had Narcissistic Personality Disorder - and voting for him could be catastrophic.

This is a fact.

You need to look up 'fact' and 'conspiracy theory' in the dictionary.

Yeah they are.
So you have asserted.
Proof - however - is in the reading.

I will leave these studies here for other readers to investigate - you obviously are an armchair expert and just turn your nose up at real world data that does not fit your pre-existing political paradigms and prejudices.

From 2019:

"most studies have shown that illegal immigrants tend to commit less crime than the native born"
Gonzalez, Benjamin; Collingwood, Loren; El-Khatib, Stephen Omar (2019). "The Politics of Refuge: Sanctuary Cities, Crime, and Undocumented Immigration". Urban Affairs Review. 55: 107808741770497. doi:10.1177/1078087417704974. S2CID 32604699.

From 2020:

We make use of uniquely comprehensive arrest data from the Texas Department of Public Safety to compare the criminality of undocumented immigrants to legal immigrants and native-born US citizens between 2012 and 2018. We find that undocumented immigrants have substantially lower crime rates than native-born citizens and legal immigrants across a range of felony offenses. Relative to undocumented immigrants, US-born citizens are over 2 times more likely to be arrested for violent crimes, 2.5 times more likely to be arrested for drug crimes, and over 4 times more likely to be arrested for property crimes. In addition, the proportion of arrests involving undocumented immigrants in Texas was relatively stable or decreasing over this period. The differences between US-born citizens and undocumented immigrants are robust to using alternative estimates of the broader undocumented population, alternate classifications of those counted as “undocumented” at arrest and substituting misdemeanors or convictions as measures of crime.

Comparing crime rates between undocumented immigrants, legal immigrants, and native-born US citizens in Texas - PMC

From 2024

"A range of studies by academics and think tanks have shown that immigrants do not commit crime at a higher rate than native-born Americans. A more limited universe of studies specifically examine criminality among immigrants in the US illegally but also find that they do not commit crimes at a higher rate."

All Presidents have “issues”.
The job attracts narcissists.

Posting that Americans should have known that voting for Mister/President Trump was going to enable him to “do things”, sort of misses the point that many had decided that they wanted him to “do things”…politics is difficult and a fair number wanted someone to “take care of things” for them, and he has.
Whether or not these turn out to be good things will be in the history books (or on the history slabs), at a future date.

Agreed that the job attracts a certain personality - but with Trump specifically, this is a Personality Disorder!

Please show me over 230 mental health experts co-signing a public letter warning about the NPD of any previous President?

Dan Carlin is a history podcaster. I recommend every American listen to this one episode!

Dan's lens on American politics is particularly interesting, because it follows the power of the President over centuries. How much power does the Executive have today compared to previous generations? In what areas? What is legally permissible now compared to just 50 years ago? 100?
How many of the President’s new powers have ever been tested - and when?
How much of the President’s potential power is kept in line by actual laws restraining the OFFICE of president - and how much by assumed conventions of moral behaviour by the PERSON inhabiting the office?
What did Abraham Lincoln say about a President having the power to declare war?
What book written 15 years ago chillingly predicted the tone and character of the 2024 election - and what cultural phenomenon helped the author predict it?
If the FBI and DOJ are the President's play things - what is left to keep him accountable?
Welcome to Dan Carlin’s “Common Sense: What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.”
We live in unique and dangerous times.
