  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Nobel Peace Prize went to Venezuela’s Maria Corina Machado - why not Trump? He's solved 8 wars!

Fact: SHE won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Correct.

So you're celebrating this win then I take it, and think that the Nobel committee made the right decision?

If your answer to that is "Yes", then I'll lay out a bullet point list of reasons why I also think she's awesome lol.
(and you're probably not going to like the list lol)

what was it again that Obama did to win the Nobel Prize?? how soon we forget.
As I pointed out in another thread about this, they literally gave it to Yasser Arafat one year (head of the PLO terrorist org)... a guy who was famous rejecting peace deals, orchestrating airline hijackings, and was the leader of the group responsible for the Munich Olympics Massacre.... so the peace prize has always had something of a low bar.

President Trump's track record demonstrates that he is a peace maker. Why can you not admit that?
Extorting rare earth minerals from desperate countries in return for help?

And we can't forget the reign of terror by ICE agents and unwanted, unneeded federal troops. With every sentence he spreads hatred and division.

Obama wasn’t trying to win the prize. It was awarded to him. For Trump, peace just for the sake of peace isn’t enough. There needs to be some material reward to go along with it.

It's good that they're giving the peace prize to someone from Venezuela who coined the phrase "popular capitalism", and was the first politician in that country in quite some time to openly reject socialist principles, and advocate for plan to deregulate and privatize 12 public sector industries and open them up for public and international investment, and promised an end to socialism and statism.

;)

Some people got played on this one lol...

People were so quick to gleefully embrace the decision on an "anyone but Trump" basis, that they're celebrating a person who's a pro-Trump free-market capitalist (borderline corporatist) who supports Netanyahu's actions, and agrees with harsh measures that have the aims of targeting Latin American gangs.

He is NOT extorting anything from other nations.
In America, the only people who are describing ICE and National Guard troops as a reign of terror are far left progressive liberals. In fact, I believe that far left progressives are the people spreading divisions and hatred.

The Guard are just people being used to stage publicity stunts while being deployed needlessly. They are good people whose time is being wasted.
Many ICE are mercenaries working for $50K signing bonuses. They have accosted and detained friends fishing in the park. They racially profile. They zip tie children and toddlers. They beat up Senators who ask questions. They arrest citizens who accompany terrified immigrants to court.
They secretly monitor the police to get to traffic stops.
At best most are arrogant bullies. At worst vicious sadists.
Please note there are qualifiers in my narrative. My observations are from real life stories of immigrants in my town and video from reputable sources.
Re: extortion. Trump humiliated Zelensky and refused to help without being promised rare earth mineral contracts worth far more than the value of aid we gave.

If half of what you said is true about ICE, then CNN, MSNBC, and all of the rest of the liberal media networks would be broadcasting and shouting this out each and every day. Also, Trump did not extort anything from Zelenskyy.

What not to celebrate. After two long years, people are finally able to gather in the streets...
Maybe you meant gathering in the rubble which has buried so many tens of thousands of their loved ones.

Oh, sorry. You must have been referring to the Israelis. My bad.

Here's another Democrat who is giving President Trump credit for this peace deal.
Andrew Cuomo congratulates Trump and says how smart he's been in dealing with terrorists.

Here one of the released hostages says that the terrorists wanted Harris to become president because they were afraid of Trump, because they knew Trump would get the hostages released:

If a ceasefire or steps toward peace aren't celebrated, perhaps the IDF could resume fighting. Critics of Israel seem perpetually dissatisfied, even when peace is possible, which may explain why Israel often ignores them.

How is any of these related to what's happening in Gaza?

I am a critic of President Trump, much like many others. At present, I am expressing criticism across several threads regarding some of his policies. However, this does not mean that I am unable to acknowledge his achievements when warranted. We should not be so narrow-minded as to withhold credit from President Trump when he makes positive contributions, simply because we may disagree with him on other issues.

Yesterday marked a positive development in Israel and Gaza. President Trump played a significant role in facilitating this outcome, and it is appropriate to acknowledge his contributions.

Here's another Democrat who is giving President Trump credit for this peace deal.
Another leader who understands the challenges of brokering peace congratulates President Trump.

“I am deeply grateful and relieved that this day has come – for the last living 20 hostages who have been through unimaginable hell and are finally reunited with their families and loved ones, and for the civilians in Gaza who have experienced immeasurable loss and will finally get the chance to rebuild their lives,” writes Biden.

“The road to this deal was not easy. My Administration worked relentlessly to bring hostages home, get relief to Palestinian civilians and end the war. I commend President Trump and his team for their work to get a renewed ceasefire deal over the finish line,” writes Biden.

Dems tripping over themselves to congratulate a man who would not be doing the same for them.

What exactly did Trump do that deserves so much praise, besides wait for his friend to call off the war and alley-oop a quick win over to him?

That just gives it away right there. The war is only over only because Israel wants it to be right now. They could have done this anytime over the past two years.

You don’t get praise for ending the war that was at your discretion the entire time. Next we’ll be praising Putin for stopping his missiles from raining down on Ukraine.

He is not a peacemaker if he wages war against American citizens in DC, Chicago and Portland, for starters. My comments are in regard to peacemaker.
BTW Biden arranged the release of 6 times as many hostages and had begun to build a dock on the Mediterranean so that Palestinian food relief could not be blocked, etc.

You are correct; if this situation had occurred during President Biden’s term, it is unlikely that President Trump would have offered congratulations. Unfortunately, that reflects President Trump's personality, which I do not endorse. However, just because President Trump might act in this manner does not mean that others are obligated to behave similarly.

I'm not sure about President Trump's exact actions since much of the negotiation happened behind the scenes. President Biden attempted to end the war and unite Arab nations but was unsuccessful. However, President Trump succeeded in bringing parties together.

You may refuse to credit President Trump for anything positive, but I have no interest in such childish behavior. I will criticize him when necessary and acknowledge his achievements when deserved. Sadly, many Americans have become so bitter that they can't admit anything good due to their hatred.

Maybe you have forgotten the short history. Isreal didn’t start the war, Hamas did.
