  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know compared to a lot of other people this is going to be minor... but I'm now fighting with my landlord over a bill... A month ago I noticed a broken window on the property I'm renting with my husband. We have no kids and only cats and I noticed the window is double pain glass and broken from the outside. Our landlord is a company, its not a single entity. I put in a maintaince repair request, was never notified of anything as they approved the request, got their own vendor and repaired the window. I then was handed a 1,000 dollar bill. I didn't break the window, it is not due to anything I did or my husband did, I was not notified I would be covering the cost and I also had zero say in the vendor. I'm currently in the process of arguing with them, but also looking for a lawyer because after reading my lease, they can't do this... I'm awaiting a reply from 1 lawyer to see if I have a case.

Please pray for me for a resolution. Thank you <3

If you have contents insurance, you can see if there is legal aid there for you. They will help with contract disputes which this may fall under.

Thank you for that <3 1 attorney said we can fight it (doesn't look like we're liable) but usually, they see repercussions from the landlord like, notice of eviction or not rental renewal (we're moving after our lease is up, this is the 2nd bill we've had to argue over, the first was 5 grand and although they covered it, this is obviously going to keep happening.) and if we don't pay it, it will go on our credit report no matter the outcome of the verdict. So it just seems like no matter what way, we are screwed.

They're not going to do anything, they're saying we are responsible and they don't care if I caused the window to break or not. I'm gonna get a 2nd law opinion and also look into content insurance to see what they say. Thank you for the idea.

Gracious Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus,
I pray for wisdom for Delvianna and her family as they fight this unjust landlord. I pray for good legal counsel to help them with this situation, and, if needed, Your financial provision to pay for this unjust bill.
In Christ's Name,
Amen

(maybe try Christian Legal Aid too, if there is an active group in your area. They are at least helpful.)

Thank you <3 according to every attorney I've talked to, it's not worth perusing because of the backlash we would get. So, we're going to just have to pay it unfortunately but we aren't going to renew next year. We've been wanting to get out of florida for a while, so were going to save to move once our lease is up next year. Hopefully, no other financial debates come up between now and then....
