  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Democrat AG candidate called for 'two bullets' in the head of his opponent along with killing his children.

As an AG? People applying to become a simple police officer would be disqualified for far less. Face it, he was one of the 24% of liberals would rejoice after seeing conservatives murdered in cold blood. And you think he is still qualified to be the chief law enforcement officer of a state? You have got to be kidding.
No, I agreed with you. I wasn't being sarcastic.

I couldn’t find anything remotely similar from the Office.

But I could when I looked here: Psalm 137:9.
Study your hermenutics. That was Psalm of lament. In other words, it was the Psamlist voicing his anger towards God. Not God's divine commandment. In other words, the Psalmist was telling God this is what he would like to see. Not what God actually desired.

Very well. I understand your point, and I think we are in agreement. Now if @MotoToTheMax can see it,that would be great. I understand that his rhetoric is not a reflection of yours.

Disqualified? Well let's see...

Article V. Executive

Section 15. Attorney General

An Attorney General shall be elected by the qualified voters of the Commonwealth at the same time and for the same term as the Governor; and the fact of his election shall be ascertained in the same manner. No person shall be eligible for election or appointment to the office of Attorney General unless he is a citizen of the United States, has attained the age of thirty years, and has the qualifications required for a judge of a court of record. He shall perform such duties and receive such compensation as may be prescribed by law, which compensation shall neither be increased nor diminished during the period for which he shall have been elected. There shall be no limit on the terms of the Attorney General.
Nope, nothing about stupid crass jokes in there that makes one disqualified. Let the voters decide. MAKE COMEDY LEGAL AGAIN! THANK YOU STATE OF VIRGINIA!

Yeah, let Trump get caught on a hot mic about "jokingly" calling for the murder of anybody and you would be singing a different tune. Again, I am not surprised that a liberal such a yourself finds it funny to joke about killing the children of your political opponents.

I'm not sure about children, but do attacks on spouses count?

or...

Okay? So let's not pretend it's only the left who can make crass, stupid jokes. I mean sure, you can be fine with it when your guys do it, and clutch your pearls when the other guys do it, but the fact remains: it's all free speech. Telling a bad or tasteless joke doesn't automatically disqualify anyone from any job. Whether or not the voters see it that way, though, is up to them.

-- A2SG, which is why a slight plurality of them voted for a convicted felon last time 'round.....

What is your point? Are you suggesting that Moto is going to dismiss these comments as jokes? Oor that you think Moto is wrong for dismissing Jones comments as jokes? Or you just playing whataboutism?

I thought I made my point pretty clear: both sides occasionally make crass, tasteless jokes, and most of us excuse it when it's our guy, but decry it when it's the other guy. But in the end, it's all free speech.

Personally, I'm not passing judgment on anyone.

Probably not but his traffic stop and working at his own PAC for community service do
I hesitate to disqualify somebody because of one bad statement, but in this case he really should have known better.

Having said that, I've voted for people who I felt were unqualified, when considering that their opponent was so much worse.

The ONLY one who says it was a joke - is the left trying to defend the indefensible.

Don't believe me? How about his own words:

Did you catch that?

I point blank asked you more than three times and you dug in that you meant it.
So please - let's stop the 'it was just a joke' fantasy
