  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When Jesus Returns, Will We Know It's Him?

Many, many points here to contend with on this one. As almost every Christian knows, when Jesus returns, He will do it in the same way as He ascended to Heaven (so the angels said) (They said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking at the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will return in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.” ACTS 1:11).

We are also told that many will come pretending to be Jesus. What if these false Jesus' arrive the same way Jesus said He would return? How would we know the difference. Yes, maybe after a while we would start to see the falseness in those impersonators but at first, we may not.

And now that I put "the false Jesus appearing the same way the real Jesus is suppose to arrive" into your head, what happens if the real Jesus arrives but we are too cautious to recognize Him afraid we might get duped.

Great question! I am sure, on a spiritual sense, believers will have a faith based knowledge to truly know its Christ. Other than that, I cannot really say. Some theologians call it "infused knowledge."

Do you really believe that almighty God would permit a false Christ to come to earth in the same way that Jesus said He would return?

““Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. “And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” (Mt 24:30-31 NKJV)

For a start, a false Christ would not be able to send angels to gather the elect of the true Christ.

When Christ returns, the universe will roll up like a scroll.

Isaiah 34:4
All the stars of heaven will be dissolved. The skies will be rolled up like a scroll, and all their stars will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like foliage from the fig tree.

There won't be any doubt when Christ returns. The universe came from nothing (Ex nihilo), adds up to nothing ("sum zero energy universe") and will go back to nothing when God's finished with it.

Considering the amount of energy packed in the nucleus of a single uranium atom, or the energy that has been continuously radiating from the sun for billions of years, or the fact that there are 10^80 particles in the observable universe, it seems that the total energy in the universe must be an inconceivably vast quantity. But it's not; it's probably zero.

Light, matter and antimatter are what physicists call "positive energy." And yes, there's a lot of it (though no one is sure quite how much). Most physicists think, however, that there is an equal amount of "negative energy" stored in the gravitational attraction that exists between all the positive-energy particles. The positive exactly balances the negative, so, ultimately, there is no energy in the universe at all.
Even Stephen Hawking specualed on the possibility of the Higgs Boson being one possible means of the destruction of the universe.

Doomsday calculations

The Higgs boson is about 126 billion electron volts, or about the 126 times the mass of a proton. This turns out to be the precise mass needed to keep the universe on the brink of instability, but physicists say the delicate state will eventually collapse and the universe will become unstable. That conclusion involves the Higgs field.

The Higgs field emerged at the birth of the universe and has acted as its own source of energy since then, Lykken said. Physicists believe the Higgs field may be slowly changing as it tries to find an optimal balance of field strength and the energy required to maintain that strength. [5 Implications of Finding a Higgs Boson Particle]
Maybe the Higgs Boson or Higgs Field will be God's means of annihlating the universe but that's just one theory. He'll do something at some completely unexpected time, and there won't be any doubt when it happens either.

The Higgs Field originated at the birth of the universe, which means that God as creator built it in right from the very beginning.

If you believe in equality then you are vulnerable.

If Allah is the same as the God of Christians, then why wouldn't you take Allah's name in Arabic as a mark and convert to Islam?

Islam is an Abrahamic religion. Islam must come from the God of Christians, since it is an Abrahamic religion. Right?

Logically it makes no sense for the God of Christians to make another religion after Christianity. Plus, unless the God of Christians is bi-polar, Islam could not possibly come from him.

Islam only makes sense if it were a religion of angels. And by angels I mean demons.

If you join Islam, then you join team Satan. Hence, the real Jesus is not happy to see you when he arrives.

I'll be truthful, I hope there will be some kind of sensor go off in my head that will tell me whether it truly is Jesus. I know the devil is so deceptive and sly that he can fool the best of us. I believe in God with all of my heart but somedays, I really make some bad decisions. When He does return, I pray He will guide me in the right direction.

You build my confidence, thank you. I can imagine the glorious sight in my mind and eagerly await the day :).

It sounds as if the day will be that spectacular that no false god could imagine such a scenario. And the faithful will truly be able to identify with the things taking place. Thank you, God bless :).

You are referring to when Jesus returns to the Mount of Olives. (Zech. 14: 4) And the two men at the ascension said that Jesus would return that way. The disciples had just asked about Jesus` kingdom rule through Israel. That is what it refers to.

As to the Body of Christ we are caught up to meet the Lord in the air. (1 Thess. 4: 17)

`Beloved, now we are children of God and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.` (1 John 3: 2)
