  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You do realize that narrative in that link was published by members of the Democratic Party, right?
It's not a narrative. It is an interview with Mr. Kirk.

Are you asserting that Kirk didn't take the 5th when asked about deleting his text messages? (and virtually everything else he was asked about)

Given the putative topic of this thread, what do you make of the fact that Kirk was not targeted by any criminal indictments, despite him fiffing his way through this interview? He was specifically instructed that...

I will also note that the Fifth Amendment provides a witness the ability to refuse
to answer a question if they have a reasonable belief that a truthful answer could be used
against them in a criminal prosecution, not simply because the witness would prefer not
to answer the question.

I cannot wait until progressive left wing liberals realize that the majority of Americans have rejected leftists ideology.
Nah, only 48.9% do.

Jack Smith SPIED on GOP SENATORS. Kash Patel has fired the FBI agents who spied on US SENATORS.

They were not false electors. The FBI has ZERO authority to spy on Senators.
Idk I think the federal bureau of investigations is specifically tasked with investigating federal crimes.

Fake. False. Fraudulent. Choose your own word, but they were not the electors counted for the state of Wisconsin.

Wisconsin prosecution of fake electors

State of Wisconsin v. Kenneth Chesebro, et al. is a state criminal prosecution concerning the Trump fake electors plot in Wisconsin. The three defendants, Kenneth J. Chesebro, Michael A. Roman, and James R. Troupis, were lawyers and political aides to Donald Trump's 2020 presidential campaign involved in planning and producing fraudulent electoral vote paperwork as part of a plot to replace or nullify the official electoral votes of the state of Wisconsin in the 2020 presidential election.

The fraudulent paperwork was passed to U.S. Senator Ron Johnson and his chief of staff. They then attempted to convey the paperwork to Vice President Mike Pence before the certification of electoral votes on January 6, 2021, but Pence staff refused the documents.

Because they're fake.

The FBI has absolutely ZERO AUTHORITY to spy on anyone in Congress.

Well yes, given an investigation of an attempt to steal an election where those of congress were participating, like Ron Johnson, then phone records need subpoenas.

EXCLUSIVE: Jan. 6 Protest Organizers Say They Participated in ‘Dozens’ of Planning Meetings With Members of Congress and White House Staff

Two organizers told Rolling Stone that they met with “close to dozen” Republican members of Congress or their staff while planning protests against the 2020 presidential election results aimed at keeping former President Donald Trump in power, according to the story. The magazine did not name the two organizers. The story describes one as a Jan. 6 rally “organizer” and the other as a “planner” and says both are communicating with U.S. House investigators who are looking into the insurrection.
Rolling Stone separately confirmed a third person involved in the main Jan. 6 rally in D.C. has communicated with the committee. This is the first report that the committee is hearing major new allegations from potential cooperating witnesses. While there have been prior indications that members of Congress were involved, this is also the first account detailing their purported role and its scope. The two sources also claim they interacted with members of Trump’s team, including former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who they describe as having had an opportunity to prevent the violence.

Do tell.

Trump's DOJ secretly obtained phone and text message logs of 43 congressional staffers and 2 members of Congress

Same incident but more detail.
Watchdog says US Department of Justice secretly obtained congressional phone records during Trump administration

The OIG’s report also revealed that the DOJ failed to establish clear guidelines for approving subpoenas involving congressional records, contributing to a lack of oversight in sensitive cases, and recommends implementing stricter approval processes and enhancing transparency to prevent potential abuses of power.

Trump 1.0 didn't, but...

In 2021, Attorney General Merrick Garland announcednew policies restricting the use of subpoenas to obtain information from members of Congress and the media.
