  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Democrats shut down government

I'm not saying that. My point was the meaning of the debate.

For the purpose of the OP, Democrats didn't shut down the government. Congress by not coming to an agreement about the budget.
Then what are you saying?
Democrats in the debate were agreeing that they would give healthcare to undocumented immigrants, is this correct?
You say that undocumented immigrants are people who have committed a civil offense but not a criminal one, correct?
So undocumented immigrants are people who have overstayed their visas, correct?
So if you're not arguing that Democrats in that debate wanted to give healthcare to immigrants who have committed a civil offense but not a criminal one then what exactly is your point?
What did those Democrats in that debate mean when they raised their hands to indicate they would give healthcare to undocumented immigrants?

That was the question.

That is how Dems look at it. Undocumented immigrants pay taxes, as well.

Ask the one that asked me.

AI Overview
"Undocumented immigrant" and "illegal immigrant" refer to the same group of people – those who are living in a country without the legal authorization to do so. The terms are often used interchangeably, though immigrant rights groups and many in academia prefer "undocumented" because it focuses on a lack of proper paperwork rather than labeling the person themselves as "illegal". The term "undocumented" is also sometimes seen as more accurate, as a person could have legal status but also be missing required documents.

Okay, when you said that undocumented immigrants and illegal immigrants are not the same, you made that up and the rest of your posts are just trying to cover for that.
No, I read it off the article which I provided.

No it doesn't. It says that both terms refer to the same groups but the article explains the difference.
YES. Both terms refer to the same group.
The difference is that one term is preferable over the other.

No, the difference is one would be guilty of a criminal offense and the other a civil offense.

No, the difference is one would be guilty of a criminal offense and the other a civil offense.
Even the article you posted doesn't say that.
From your article;

If “illegal immigrant” is imprecise and racially problematic, what term should be used instead? Pro-immigrant liberals often prefer the term “undocumented immigrant.” The nonprofit Define American, in its criticism of phrases such as “illegal immigrant” and “illegal alien,” recommends “undocumented American.”

Let's say you're right, that would mean Democrats in the presidential debate only wanted to give healthcare to undocumented immigrants, who according to you have only committed a civil offense
AI Overview
No Democratic lawmaker has proposed giving healthcare to undocumented immigrants who have committed a civil offense but denying it to those with criminal offenses
. There are several reasons for this, rooted in existing federal law, practical issues, and political considerations:
Creating such a distinction would be politically difficult and could divide the Democratic coalition. During the 2020 presidential debates, many candidates supported decriminalizing border crossings to protect all undocumented immigrants from criminal prosecution, reflecting a progressive shift within the party. Attempting to differentiate eligibility based on criminal records would likely be seen as a retreat from this stance.

Then the terms couldn't refer to the same group of people, to make this as simple as possible. (See your post #48)

The same group referred to are people in the country illegally. One set entered illegally and the other entered legally but over stayed.

California has spent so much on healthcare for illegal immigrants that Newsome is trying to stop any more from signing up.

That's a bald faced lie and you know it.

Nope. It's the truth, though I'm confident you don't know it, because you haven't looked into it beyond what the clowns on Fox and Phonies said.

Because the Republicans shut it down?

You think the people who lick Donald Trump's shoes care about you, your loved ones, or America at all?
