I would think the spirit of this sentiment would not want anyone to get away with breaking the law.Too many are missing the justice part.
It makes sense that understanding, Grace, and Mercy would all walk congruent with one another. Legalism seems to think that people were made to serve the law rather than the law was made to serve people.Mercy isnt about allowing people to break the law without consequence.
Of course, it would not be the asylum seeker's fault that the system is broken and therefore the laws are being broken due to an underfunding of the system. Since the law supports accommodating asylum seekers with the understanding that they are fleeing some form of persecution in their own countries, it makes no sense to break the intent of the law and send them back to their own country.Its making sure the consequences are appropriate and giving people a chance. Thats why we send them back home instead of putting them in prison for tge rest of their lives.
