  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am happy to go but I am annoyed that the 'lead pastor' isn't attending and has sent others instead.

Perhaps you could ask for a meeting with the lead pastor? It annoys me that in many churches the lead pastor's absence seems to mean you don't have enough money, power, or influence in the church to be worthy of their time.

Oh, wow! Do you think the lead pastor's absence has to do with these things? I am not experienced with many churches and so would not have considered any reasons other than disinterest, perhaps? Thanks!

I can't say about your pastor and I certainly hope That is not the case for you. But, I've been part of different churches for a few decades now, and I have experienced it happening that way in some places. (Interestingly, in the church I attend now the pastor invites every new person that comes to church for a personal 1:1 sit-down. It was one of the things that sold me on attending there among other equally good choices in the area.)
