  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

From the articles I've read, it sounds like the backlash is multi-faceted.

- Some stems from the fact the show's creator made some Charlie Kirk posts after his death

- The other aspect is that the show doesn't merely just feature a trans character, but has some certain parts of the plot that delve a little deeper into the subject. For instance, it sounds like one of the plot points of the show is that the protagonist is a Gay Trans boy (yes, both), who made the decision to move out of their parents' house because they "weren't adequately supportive" and go live in a theme park with "accepting" people an that's where the adventures supposedly take place? (basing it off of the reviews/synopses I'm reading, I haven't actually seen the show)

Based on the positive reviews (which can be just as telling as the negative reviews), it does sound like those themes were being covered at least somewhat regularly...

"Absolutely stunning in every sense of the word. It's take on the lgbtqia issues is amazing"

"I LOVE this show! it’s everything i’ve ever wanted as i love theme parks and i’m part of the LGBTQ+ community! i love it’s representation and how one of the main characters is a gay trans boy and i love how Norma has anxiety and has trouble socialising, and i love how her love interest is a muslim girl it makes the younger audience feel connected to these characters!"

"As a part of the LGBTQ community, I friggin' LOVED this show. The main character is a gay trans man, and his best friend is BIPOC with social anxiety issues. The way the show explored these issues, issues many young lgbtq folks often face, was well done and thought out. It was gut-wrenching at times to draw parallels."

That being said, it sounds like the show ended a while back, but maybe it's still in the streaming library or something?

lol, yes, instead of Netflix, I'll have my kid spend her time on Twitter/X. I'm sure that will improve her health.

I'm sure having 14 kids with 4 different women (including kids with two different women at the same time) while being an absentee dad also does wonders for a child's health. Although, in Musk's case, maybe they're better off with him being absent.

Why does anybody take this guy seriously anymore?

Good grief. Netflix has always had content that required parental guidance, or that was inappropriate for children altogether. I would never sit a 10-year-old in front of Netflix and say "Watch whatever you want; I'll be back in a couple of hours." If you don't like the show, don't watch it.

If you don't like the show, don't watch it.

There is no outrage or ways to generate likes and traffic on your social media if you do that.

I'd argue there isn't actually anything "inappropriate" for kids being shared on the show.

There are things the parents don't like (okay fine....) but that doesn't make it inappropriate for an age group.

I am sure that between the alimony and child support, the kids are doing far better than kids who were raised as "theybies."

Okay, but watch the first episode or two by yourself before you introduce it to your kids. If you decide they're going to be okay with the content, watch the show with them, and have conversations about the episodes afterwards. Even if it turns out that there's nothing that requires "parental guidance", it gives you something to talk about together. "Hmm, I think the characters should have done thus-and-so instead of what they did; what do you think?"

I'm not worried about the kids. I'm sure he can afford great child care.

I'm more worried about the sanctimonious hypocrisy of a guy in his situation who feels the need to spout off when he isn't really interested in his children.

idk... There's been a bunch of reporting/speculation on what his actual child support payments look like, because Texas caps child support at a pretty low number and because both Grimes and Ashley St Clair have gone public about him being stingy. I haven't seen confirmation of those numbers, but if they're accurate, they wouldn't even cover the cost of a nanny.

Never heard of it but now that the wealthiest person in the world has brought attention to the show, I’m sure there will be a lot less people tuning in.

I can't comment on this particular show, since I haven't seen it (though I've now added it to my Netflix watch list). But in general, Netflix carries R-rated movies, horror movies, movies with lots of violence, and so on -- appropriate for adults but not kids. So, parental guidance.

Do you think sexual content belongs in children's cartoon shows?
