It appears that Portland would rather have the mess.

Troops aren't being sent in to fix the mess, they're being sent in to protect ICE from the mess.

A local person is reporting on the detention center outside of Chicago and has gone several times. He noted a major difference last night from previous trips. The police presence they usual have was absent and protestors were stationed in a different area. He was recording at a distance when the gate opened and shots were fired from a group of soldiers coming out. He identified them as ATF and said they were providing security for the facility. The ice agents were there as well.

He covers all of the protests locally including the one at the center and was there before they began. After last night’s events he felt it was no longer safe for people to go and felt the crowd had been infiltrated. He suggested that might occur when Trump made his statements on Antifa before the executive order was passed. Things were getting more aggressive beforehand but this was definitely the worst thus far. He suggests if people want to go to do it during the day and not at night. It was his consensus that the police absence wasn’t happenstance.

I don’t know him personally but he covers local news and I watch him from time to time. Nick Shirley does the same internationally and gets amazing footage. The piece on the Paris riots was good and he was running and coughing too! His videos reveal how dangerous it can get and why caution is needed. You can see Antifa in action below. I know. But if you’re not used to that it will seem strange. They let a building burn a week ago and no one put the fire out. A section was in flames and one person showed up. They were too busy fighting. There was a man climbing down the fire escape. I’m not sure where he came from. Now the bar is gone but it could have spread because they’re connected. That’s not something you’ll usually see over here.

Many of course believe that Trump likely is using justification of the support of ICE, or other Federal operations as a cover to basically repress cities like Portland. Sure it is a mess there to most of us. It has been for some years. Lots of different and more radical far right and far left groups in the area. But the people keep voting in the same leaders and other than for immigration enforcement, there really is no reason for the Federal troops to be there. So I hope that mission creep which is unconstitutional, is off the table. Instead like some, I fear that a confrontation is what Trump wants to justify even more force and repression.

I would argue too that law enforcement or military presence does not change the heart of a criminal, it merely changes their opportunities. In many instances such confrontation may harden and incite those with evil intents. Sadly, a small subset who live in Portland maybe relishing this opportunity to clash with Trump. Otherwise, most criminal/anarchists etc. will either find softer targets, or wait until they are gone. Unless Trump wants to occupy Portland for some time, what will it really change?

Portland and virtually every U.S. city needs David Wilkerson types, who can bring (if empowered by God) a spiritual force and anointing that breaks the yoke.
Another Christian example was the evangelist Charles Finney. Before he had revival meetings in a town he would fast and pray for days to bring cities to God. Here is one such report from google ai.

All of them do to some degree. But I don’t focus on opinions. I like to know what’s going on and use different sources. If you want my opinion I think he has favor or connections. He gets access to places you don’t usually see with content creators. I’m curious to see how things unfold.

I was actually just in Quebec 2 days ago (thus the reason why I haven't been as active on here... I was in Northern Vermont because the GF wanted to do some "leaf peeping", and we made trip north of the border at the Derby Line/Stanstead crossing... which is a cool unique arrangement, I encourage people to look it up)

I'm guessing this guy is using paid actors or selective editing.

The French-Canadian customs officer was incredibly rude (even more so than the French Canadians normally are), as were the people I passed on the street and tried to be friendly with.

Her questions at the customs checkpoint were
"So you're coming here to take some pictures and get lunch, and why can't you do that in Vermont?"
"Who did you vote for?" (to which she didn't seem to believe my answer that I didn't vote in last election)
"Do you own or have any guns?" (loaded question)
She then asked the GF (who's Indian) "Has he ever threatened you?"

Being that I own some property in Ontario that I inherited (since my Grandpa was from there -- which she certainly had access to that info when she scanned my passport) and I've gone to Canada no fewer than 25 times in the last 30 years and never caused any problems up there, the 15 minutes worth of grilling was tad excessive lol

And while the family friends who look after the cabin for me assured me "that's just how French Canadians are, they're rude to us English speaking Canadians as well", there were some people on the streets I passed who were initially smiling & friendly, as soon as I said I'm from Ohio, their demeanor changed lol. Despite me wanting nothing more than to take some pretty pictures and spend some money in their town lol.

I haven't crossed into French Canada, but the customs officer into Ontario was also extremely rude, glaring at me like it was a homicide interrogation. When she asked me if I own or have any guns, I said "Yes and no". This seemed to concern her, and she asked me what I meant. I said no, I don't have any guns on my person, but I own LOTS of guns back at my home in Texas. She totally didn't like that answer, but there was nothing she could do.
