  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Confession, things have changed, for the better!

Morning,

I had my first confession in 30 years last week. I was really neurvous about this. I was met by the Auxilarary Bishop, who I thought he was just a priest. He said to go to the confessional. He had already saw my face, but he said I had a choice of face to face or behing the screen. This was never a option 30 years ago. I had several sins on my mind, but I did forget a couple of others. He was really easy to speak to and was very sensitive to my feelings. I was truly sorry for my past sins. He said, that's what is most important. He gave me absoution and told me to do one Our Father for penance and then to say the Act of Contrition. I remember as a kid being given up to six Our Fathers and six Hail Marys. :)

This was a very positive sacrament and I could feel then Holy Spirit during my confession, which led to some tears. My heart and soul feels so much lighter now. I was thrilled to go an receive the Eucharist for the first time in so many years. I am so glad and grateful that I have returned to the faith.

Wonderful! Welcome home. And those sins, you genuinely forgot… they are forgiven as well. You did not do it deliberately. Of course, if you want to mention them at your next confession, you can. Very happy for you! :)
