  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I didn’t watch but from the clips I’ve seen it looked more like a WWE style political rally similar to last year’s RNC than any wake or funeral or “celebration of life” event you typically see after someone passes. I don’t think funerals need to always be somber events but the political undertones here along with on stage pyrotechnics cross the line into just plain tacky.
IT all seems like some ochestrated to some kind of end.

False!Where is your official source that says the would be Trump assassin was republican?

In the days following the assassination attempt, social media swirled with misinformation about the shooter. Crooks was a registered Republican, and there is no evidence he had a criminal record, contrary to popular claims online.

In the book, Routh also wrote that he voted for Trump in 2016, but came to regret that decision after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Former Trump supporter then?

Official sources! What you provided was horse dung. Many so called 'news networks' reported that Tyler Robinson was radical right wing MAGA, and your source is just as wrong for the same exact reasons.

OK, but that sort of proves my wider point. If you want to preach the Gospel, why mix it with a message about how half of American voters are enemies that need to be fought and opposed?

Because why let a horrific killing and memorial service go to waste? Within 24 hours of Charlie's death, the MAGA political operatives were pinning his blame on "them". Within 48 hours, I received a text message allegedly from his widow - asking for money.

Imagine this: After JFK's assasinisation, his widow sent out letters asking for contributions to the Democratic party?
Imagine if a political operative took the pulpit and blamed the republican party for his death?

There are no norms any more. Everything, including a grieving wife and family, is considered fair game in the service of power.

Another upshot of Citizens United, since the government is up for sale, the winners will be the ones who make more money with which to purchase it.
(If you get the government to give you lots of ‘tax-credits’ and ‘loans’ you can even get the government to “pay you” to buy them!)

If I didnt know any better, I would suspect your statement would be found in the manifesto of a radical. Just saying.

I know it is a 7 hour video. But it was such a beautiful event that not only honored Charlie Kirk, but God. The worship brought me to tears.
I really think the events around Kirk is a significant phenomena that is having a profound affect on culture.

As though as we have progressed in the last decades all the ideas and beliefs of the past competing for recognition is coming down to God, to Christs truth. Its disguised in all these ideologies but its really a spiritual battle and the lines are now clearly being drawn.

What is happening around Kirk which is drawing out people to declare their belief is a symptom. The reactions against this in the name of ideology is a symptom. A symptom of the coming spiritual battle between the dark forces and principalities of this world and Christ.

I think all that has happened before was in preparation or rather the conditions upon which the culture has come to such a crossraods. The ideologies had to run their course and be shown to be false prophets. Now they are being exposed there is only one way to uphold such ideas but to attack the truth even with violence and murder.

Kirks murder is a catalyst which will take this to the next level which I think is a new level of attacks on Christ and Christians. Which will include conservatives and politics.

It may be that thinks settle and progressives find a way to win the people again in the future. But this will be followed with an even greater spiritual divide and each time coming to the reality of openly and explicitely calling for those who stand with Christ to be destroyed and cancelled.

This ain't no neutral cultural DEI and freedom revolution but one of Truth about who is God of this world and ourselves. Kirk is symbolic of this. The phenomena as a result is taking the culture to the next level towards the inevitable end result of this spiritual reality.

I love what Brandon Lake, one of my favorite singers, said about that memorial service.

Did you hear Chris Tomlin's reaction?

I would add that i was shocked to see Chris Tomlin looking so old. At first I thought it was James Carville. Lol

I only saw some clips & it turned more into a political campaign of uniting evangelicals & conservatism. I would have preferred some readings from the Bible & some religious music. Conservatives are not always aware of their audiences. One of the opening lines was "If you are a RINO, we hate you." Really? At a memorial service to members of the same GOP but a bit more centrist.

Go to the link provided in the OP. There is almost 2 hours of worship before anyone talks.

If only Kirk had done more meaningful things with his life like participate in the armed robbery of a woman, and then died in a police encounter stemming from trying to pass phony checks, hopped up on drugs, and then resist arrest for 12 minutes (and then national media only sharing the last 90 seconds of that exchange), then maybe he'd be worthy of saint status and have people renaming streets after him and city governments commissioning murals with his likeness featuring a halo and angel's wings.

The only qualification was being black and dying while in the custody of a white police officer. If George Floyd had been white and the officer black, that would have never made the news.
