Kimmel did not accuse MAGA of shooting Kirk. He accused one person of the shooting. Period.

The only accusations concerning MAGA are that Robinson was one of them - which turned out not to be true - and that MAGA was trying to distance themselves from him.

And this was known before Kimmel made that accusation that he was MAGA.

Even "disingenuous" would be more charitable but you chose to go with the worst interpretation.

Kimmel made no mistake. He said the shooter was MAGA. He said "he was one of their own". Thats a statement of fact. And it was known he was a leftist before he made that statement.

And I agree with Paul that the FCC shouldn't have "weighed in" at the time. They should have waited to see what was going to happen before saying anything.

When complaints are made its the FCCs job to look into it. But under these circumstances it would have been better to take a wait and see approach. Thats my opinion.

The bad part of specifically Trump doing it is that he normalizes it. Even if he's just "running his mouth," people hear what he says and repeat it, and it lowers the quality of discourse in the country.

ETA: just look at how the nature of discussions here have changed since Trump came on the scene (and especially in the past 4-5 years)

He's made a very good point. That it runs both ways. But it's generally the extremes of both sides that come out with this dross. We could all do without it. It tends to work it's way up from the morons on each side. Unfortunately for the GOP it's top down.

I would really prefer to be in a position not to have to say that. But we both know it's true.
