  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And yes, a government official did threaten ABC if something wasn't done. Even Ted Cruz got that message...and strongly objected.
Didn't happen. No threats were made. I disagree with Cruz on this one thing. I too think the governement should stay out of free apeech issues. But I disagree that Carr threatened anyone.
Carr should have stayed out it becauae it muddled the water and gave the left something to whine about and claim something false about what occurred.

Do you realize you wrote that where people could see it?

How is golf played cheaply? Yes, you do need to spend money to "pick up the basics" of the game because at the very least you have to be on a course or in a costly indoor facility to learn to stroke.
I thought I wanted to play golf, but I soon discovered that I just wanted to drive the golf cart like the Dukes of Hazzard.

Mr. Kimmel went after Mr. Trump's supporters in his Monday program, calling them “the MAGA gang” during his monologue, and said they were “desperately trying” to paint the accused shooter, Tyler Robinson, “as anything other than one of them.”
Source: Google
Which is totally different than what you claimed he said.

Not to mention Kimmel flat out said it was MAGA that did it.
Never happened.
The government never took him off the air and never threatened to.
The FCC sure did, after Trump pressured them.
He spent the whole time blaming the government for his suspension instead of blaming himself for lying about who the shooter was. And now he's lying again.
Kimmel didn't say anything about who the shooter was. He pointed out what MAGA was saying.

Not me. You’ve got me mixed up with someone else. Please post what I said if I’m wrong
You said "What he was suspended for wasn't a joke.
It was for trying to label Kirk's assassin as a MAGA faithful."

Kimmel never said that.

Right, he didn’t come out and say it, he implied it, and it was an attempt to label Kirk’s assassin as a MAGA faithful

...sure, most people listening to what Carr said understood it as an implied threat.

"This is a very, very serious issue right now for Disney. We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to take action on Kimmel or there is going to be additional work for the FCC ahead." "They have a license granted by us at the FCC, and that comes with it an obligation to operate in the public interest."

"...in the public interest" as determined by who? .......well Carr of course.

[note: Carr was the author of the FCC strategy in Project 2025]

Kimmel thanked those who spoke up on his behalf last night:
“And I also want to thank all of you. Thanks to (all) who supported our show, cared enough to do something about it, to make your voices heard so that mine could be heard. I will never forget it. And maybe weirdly, maybe most of all, I want to thank the people who don’t support my show and what I believe but support my right to share those beliefs anyway, people who I never would have imagined like Ben Shapiro, Clay Travis, Candace Owens, Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul, even my old pal Ted Cruz, who, believe it or not, said something very beautiful on my behalf.” <--whiny leftests?

Thats not a threat. When the public complains the FCCs JOB is to look into the situation. How can you not know this? The FCC is literally responsible for this.

Like I said, I just as soon Carr stayed out of it for now. Let the affiliates deal with it and see what happens. Then if they don't do anything, then look into it and see if it violates any of the FCC rules. But jumping in right a way, well that was just a bad move right now. It gives an appearance that doesn’t need to be given. Let's face it. Many on the right have felt the pressure of the government to shut them up by the government putting pressure on social.media companies mostly. So they know how it feels. And Carr just failed to take that into account. Dumb, just dumb. He should have been patient.

This is pretty much the liberal reaction.

I believe we are in crisis.

The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss.

Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous.

The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil.

When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped from our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest. -- Tony Gilroy

No it wasnt an implication. It was an accusation.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.
Kimmel did not accuse MAGA of shooting Kirk. He accused one person of the shooting. Period.
Thats an accusation. Stop deflecting.
The only accusations concerning MAGA are that Robinson was one of them - which turned out not to be true - and that MAGA was trying to distance themselves from him.

This is not deflecting anything.
Lol, no it doesn't. When you purposely leave stuff out in order to make it sound like so.ething else its disingenuous at best and dishonest at worst.
Lols, yes it does. Even "disingenuous" would be more charitable but you chose to go with the worst interpretation.
I might cut him some slack if I havent been reading his posts forever.
I have also read both, yours and his, posts and your accusation reads like projection and not for the first time.
Trump is entitled to his opinion. Carr didn't threaten anyone. You are being disingenuous again.
No one has said that Donald is not entitled to his opinion; however, as president he is not entitled to target his enemies with government action simply because he feels entitled. Carr most certainly did threaten Disney/ABC. I am being sincere, so any disingenuity is your own; that you can't recognize it points to cognitive dissonance with projection as your way of dealing with the discomfort.
What exactly did he threaten them with? What was he going to do to them?

Baloney. To come out with that definitive a statement without actually knowing is a flat out lie.
No, it is not. Again, being mistaken is not lying.
Kimmel is a hard core leftist who hates conservatives.
Prove that he hates conservatives.
Anyone who thought this was maga involved is as stupid as they come.
This was an evolving situation with one of the initial pieces being Robinson's family are MAGA and the Groyper photo.
And to blame them is, well I dont know what to say.
Well, you could always call people stupid liars again. /s
We all knew in a VERY short period of time what was left behind and this was a leftist.
We still don't know that Robinson was a leftist. We know he hated Kirk for spreading hate towards transgendered people, but I don't think that makes him a "leftist" unless you want to define "leftist" as "someone who is against hate towards transgendered people and is not MAGA".
Nice deflection. Rhis is about Kimmel.
That's not what deflection is. That clip was exactly what Kimmel's joke was about.
