  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Mr. Trump, have you no sense of decency?

The giant is beginning to roar.

"Friends,

I can’t tell you exactly how I know but after sixty years in and around politics I’ve developed a sixth sense, and my sixth sense tells me the tide is now turning on Trump."

Okey dokey.

Another opinion from a so called "expert" that will be proven wrong. I recommend bookmarking this thread and see how things actually turn out after the midterms.

“They’ll take a great story and they’ll make it bad. See, I think that’s really illegal,” adding “Personally, you can’t take, you can’t have a free airwave if you’re getting free airwaves from the United States government.”

I think most Americans instinctively have a negative reaction to a president threatening the right to criticize him on the airwaves.

I am curious to know what his "sixth sense" told him about the 2024 election.

Nevermind. I looked it up. He predicted that Joe Biden would win a second term. What an expert.

I always liked Robert Reich. Here he is in Times Top Ten of 20th Century Cabinet Members.

I have only written a cabinet officer once in my lifetime. It was a suggestion in policy to Robert Reich. Though I was young and too idealistic, I did recieve a letter back from the Deputy Sec. of Labor, thanking me and addressing some concerns as to what they were trying to do. I wish all government was that polite. But when you are a Rhodes Scholar, you don't have to prove anything to people or go around saying how smart you are. That Reich helped institute the Family Medical Leave Act is terrific for all families.

Maybe Biden would have won, if he had run. Lots of Christians predicted Trump would win a second consecutive term too but he did not. So now he wins and they think a President with a high unpopular rating will achieve a lasting influence? We will indeed see how it all pans out.

It is not too late to get off the Democrat sinking ship and onto the Trump train. You can choose to remain in deliberate ignorance and denial while you slowly drown, or you can just jump ship and come with us. You would be welcomed.

When the Republicans stop kowtowing to Trump and the left I might consider returning to the fold. Until then I must follow what I consider to be the prudent course.

The Trump Train is heading off a cliff and taking the United States of American with it. And it's fueled by deliberate ignorance and denial. Some are waking up. Take the soy bean farmers for example. Even though it took them two Trump presidencies. But they are waking up because unlike the last Trump presidency, there is no bailout for them this time.

LOL, his sixth sense comment was only the start. He provided a comprehensive list of reasons to believe that, like past cases of tyranny, people seem to be waking up and saying, "Enough."

No thanks. The only thing that would drive me onto the Trump train is deliberate ignorance or denial.

Did you read the whole list of insanity from Trump as recorded in my link? How can you ignore all that and tell us to jump on the train that is causing this?

Nope. Nor do I intend to. You know, that "deliberate ignorance" thing.
It documented Trump's verbal assault on something the rest of the Western World pretty much takes for granted - even though our own laws are a bit more nuanced on it than yours. (That harm minimisation thing we take more seriously than the USA.)

Your culture used to be clearer on this - and you have some of the strongest laws on this in the world - being the First Amendment and all.

But when you elect someone with NPD it's obvious he's not going to like being mocked!

Hated? Loves it - it proves he's the most important person in the room!
Adored - well of course - that's classic narcissistic 'supply'.

But mocked? No - that challenges his whole worldview that he's the most important person on the planet - ever! That's intolerable. And must be stopped! From the article:

On Monday, he sued the Times in a lawsuit that, as CNN put it, read “like a pro-Trump op-ed, with page after page of gushing praise for the president.”
On Tuesday, he accused reporter Jonathan Karl and his employer, ABC News, of engaging in hate speech against him, and warned that Pam Bondi, the attorney general, might go after them.
On Wednesday, after Brendan Carr, his lapdog chair of the FCC, pressured ABC to suspend Jimmy Kimmel, he claimed that Kimmel being “CANCELLED” was “Great News for America,” and urged NBC to fire Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers next.
On Thursday, he said broadcast networks have been mean to him and that Brendan Carr might have to start taking their licenses away. “When you have a network and you have evening shows, and all they do is hit Trump,” he said, “they’re licensed. They’re not allowed to do that. They’re an arm of the Democrat Party.”
On Friday, he suggested that negative coverage about him is “really illegal.” Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office he said: “They’ll take a great story and they’ll make it bad. See, I think that’s really illegal,” adding “Personally, you can’t take, you can’t have a free airwave if you’re getting free airwaves from the United States government.”
On Saturday, he demanded that Bondi prosecute several of his political rivals even though grand juries and federal prosecutors couldn’t find any evidence of wrongdoing. He demanded that she do it “NOW!!!”
On Sunday, at the memorial service for Charlie Kirk, he said that he disagreed with Kirk’s supposed leniency toward his ideological foes, adding: “I hate my opponent, and I don’t want the best for them.”

Thanks for looking out for us, but we’re well aware of our President’s little verbal faux pas and ability to jump between topics (often in one sentence), but we’ll be “okay”.
Just relax.
