  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Altar calls are always a bit suspect in terms of their efficacy and the level of commitment of the respondents. Add in the propensity for the folks in this crowd to grandstand and use religious displays as a form of virtue signaling, and… yeah.
That’s where I’m at.
But OTOH, who among us could listen to Stephen Miller’s impassioned description of his once-dormant dragon awakening to vanquish his foes and not feel blanketed in the warm love of Jesus? His repeated claims that we’ve created nothing just reinforced how much we need to not rely on ourselves but on the power found through faith in Christ.
I didn’t see it, and since I’m not the target audience, that’s ok with me.

This country would do well if it did more God fearing and less God mocking.
I was mocking Trump, not God. The line between them may be blurry for a good number of people, but it’s still there.

He’s run four times and lost two, my dude

No apparently you don't live in the United States.

Donald Trump has only run for president 3 times. Once in the 2016 presidential election, the 2020 election, and the 2024 election.

Those are the only elections Trump has ever ran in.

Donald Trump is not seen as losing the 2020 election by everyone. So when people say that he didn't lose, know that arguing isn't going to be convincing. People already know he didn't serve 3 terms.

I do, actually.

False.

He ran in 2016, 2020, 2024, and 2000. He announced his candidacy tentatively in November 1999, released his campaign outline in January 2000, quit in February, and won for his party in both of the primaries he was qualified for.

Know your history, my dude.

Donald Trump is not seen as losing the 2020 election by everyone. So when people say that he didn't lose, know that arguing isn't going to be convincing. People already know he didn't serve 3 terms.
He lost it according to all reputable sources, legal findings, and did not serve during that four year window, which is consistent with him being the loser in the election. He also withdrew his candidacy in 2000, making him a loser then, too.

Now, I know you’re going to pull the conspiracy stuff for 2020 and goalpost shift to say that 2000 doesn’t count because he quit or it was a short run or he wasn’t a serious or it was so short… But in the scope of US history and basic universal facts, he has run four times, lost twice, despite efforts to spin it otherwise.

You're the one who said it. I assume you have access to the video.
I never said I had access to a video…? Again, how would I have access to a video of a poster making a claim about “leftists” saying Trump is a dictator?
Yup.

For nationalists, y’all kind of have a weak grasp on US history.

Theology differs from Church to Church. Some believe in Once Saved, Always Saved, and others believe one must persevere until the end. So, I don't know how one would define efficacy in that case, eh? Only God can judge their hearts.

Odd choice to use a memorial service to stump for the death of democracy, but about what I expected.
I'd like to see the part where he stumped for the death of democracy.

Yes, it was an amazing amount of people!
If people were saved, then Glory to God in all things! Even God can bring good out of immense evil.

Here’s guessing the majority were already Christian and this was simply preaching to the choir.
That's true, but maybe they wanted to re-commit themselves and be more fervent? Who knows? Or their emotions were very running very high?

Really? Christians on here make judgements about people’s salvation all the time.

Really, though, I’m not pessimistic about salvation, just dubious of the claim that event attracted people who weren’t already Christians to begin with. It’s like going to a football game and marveling at the home team’s popularity.
I have never seen a single Christian on these forums casually dismissing a person coming to the faith. At least, up until now.

I never said you were mocking God. Just in general, this country would do well if there was a revival of the Fear of the Lord. Another Great Awakening if you will. I remain hopeful that Charlie Kirk's death sparks a movement that brings the nation to its knees in prayer and repentance.
