  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Then you’re saying to agree with an ideology IS hatred.
What? I don’t care what adults do. But if someone doesn’t agree with LGBT et al, they have a right to say it’s wrong. People are allowed to have different opinions. That is NOT hatred.

Whether or not someone's opinion qualifies as "hatred" is largely down to the way in which it is expressed.

And, to be clear, people (at least in the US) have the right to express hatred. Having a freedom from governmental consequences for what you say does not mean that it can't be hateful.

Agreed. However, spreading hatred helps no one, and it never helps any cause. It only makes someone look immature and bigoted.

I think you missed my point. You said:

That's not an absolute statement. No matter how you choose to express your opinion, you have a right to say it. However, depending on how it is expressed, it absolutely can be hatred.

Yes. I said it wrong. But yes, I do agree with what you're saying, and am following it.

Feeling and acting obligated to tell the gays that they are wrong/abominable/unnatural for having gaywise sex.

It’s amazingly easy to just not do that.
How does believing that something is sinful make someone a phobe of some kind and s bigot?

If I belive committing adultery is a sin and say so am I an adultererphobe and s bigot toward adulterers? What about beliving that lying is sinful and say so Am I a liar phobe and a bigot?

By following a set of rules. Saying ‘X’ is a sin is a rule.
No its not, its giving an example of what separates us from God. We are all condemned and under judgement. For all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. Jesus said He didn't come to condemn the world because its already condemned. He came to save it from tvst condemnation and offers salvation to those who believe.

Those "rules" you speak of are merely examples of what we do that separates us from God and shows us why we need a savior.

We might think we are a good person, but we aren't. We are all bad people and deserve judgement.

No they are not. They are saying ‘all these folks are welcome here; there is no hate here’.
Exactly, stating that there is no hate there while providing while showing ideologies and organizations is saying if you don't support these tgen you are a hater. A bigot or racist or a phobe of some kind. Its a false choice as Rob was saying.

Talking about the gospel isn't never rude. Following Christ command to spread the gospel is never rude.
I sort of butted in. Though

...but the idea that the only two options are "You either support the BLM movement, or you're racist against black people" is a false choice.
Did I say that it was true?

they have a right to say it’s wrong.
But do you HAVE to? I have the right to call a disabled person a spastic retard but I don’t. Because it does nothing but hurt them.

I never said it did. But bringing it up in conversation where your religious rules were not asked for is just plain rude. No one not of your faith cares about your faith.

You don’t need to bring it up at all.

Yes and very annoying, too. Can’t you just mind your own business?

You don’t have to support them. Just don’t say any thing about it. Is that too much to ask?

When I meet people I don’t start telling them how to live their lives or that they are abominations etc.

Exactly. And if someone has been invited to my home and they are introduced to a gay person or a person who is trans, if they then say anything derogatory about them they'll be immediately escorted to the front door. If they can't be civil to my friends and family then they are persona non grata.
