That sounds wonderful! It’s a beautiful day here. Very warm but breezy. You can smell autumn in the air!![]()
As a person in the Midwest, we experience it intenselyHaving variable seasons is indeed a blessing.
I love winter! I could live with an eternal winter!Agreed but I could do with shorter winters.![]()
How warm? We’ve had temps in the 80’s but it’s supposed to be in the 70’s for the next three days. It’s very unusually warm here in southern Nebraska! I don’t like it, but am sure it will start to cool down soon!
Downunder here - we could do with shorter summers.Agreed but I could do with shorter winters.![]()
80s, I’m thinkingHow warm? We’ve had temps in the 80’s but it’s supposed to be in the 70’s for the next three days.
No reds or yellows here yet. Been watching my hummingbird feeders and I think they started migrating. They’ve really thinned out. Will most likely take them all down this weekend.I haven't seen any migrating Canadian geese yet, but they usually don't start moving in a big way until October.
In the meantime, the sassafras trees and the milkweeds are all blazing yellow already, as are some of the ferns; most of the bracken is already brown and crispy---they don't survive a few cool nights. Some of the sugar maples are bright red, and the sumac and burning bush are getting there. My wife's Rose of Sharon bush out beside the garage a few days ago had yellow leaves and bright blue blooms on it---the last of summer and the beginning of fall, LOL.
Today it's dark and gloomy out there, rain off and on, and it's supposed to be that way for the rest of the week. In my experience, that's usually a sign that it's going to get the ground good and soaked, and then turn off chilly afterwards---typical autumn behavior. I haven't seen or heard too many songbirds lately, either, come to think of it---they've probably started moving south as well.
