  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Let's not forget what Biden was doing with trying to shut down speech using the governement.
Never happened. Nobody was censored by the Biden administration. Nobody.
And as far as we know now, the FCC didn't tell anyone that Kimmel had to go. It was local affiliates that said they weren't wanting to support his programming. When people saw his blatant lies and smears they'd had enough.
Kimmel spoke zero lies and zero smears.

Good riddance!

That was the consequences of his own actions.

It's time for him to act like an adult.
What actions? He didn't say anything about Charlie Kirk. He did say something about the right blaming the left as they did in the attempts on Trump's life. He was correct.

I doubt ABC/Disney execs want to put that albatross back around their neck. Kimmel is dead weight and a liability at this point.
He's already been rehired. He never did anything wrong about Charlie Kirk. But I believe most liberals are online more. Then TV. But I can be wrong.

I really can't blame Trump.for hating his opponents after what they have done and tried to do to him.
You mean investigating crimes that he was involved with? Too bad. Don't break the law.
Include killing him like they killed Charlie.
He hates Democrats, who had nothing to do with Kirk's killing or both assassination attempts on Trump.
He has real reasons to hate them. I'm not saying he's right to hate.
Then say that he's wrong and it's sinful.
As believers we are called to love our enemies and to forgive those who have sinned against us. But lets be honest shall we? That's not easy to do.
We would, if we love Jesus. Kirk's wife loves Jesus.
Rhe left is so full of hate and we've seen it in is spades regarding Charlie, yet they still want to call out rhe fact that Trump said he hates his opponents.
Where? Kirk invited debate. I respect that. The left didn't kill Kirk. A registered Republican killed Kirk just as one shot Trump.
Why don't we just admit that a lot of people struggle with that. We have so many on the left spewing hate when they themselves, were not the victims of anything.
Does the left excuse the right spewing?
The problem with hate is it can lead to vengeance. And vengence more often than not leads to really bad outcomes.
True.
I hope the president eventually figures this out.
I pray the Jesus will help him repent.
Kirk's wife is a good example to all of us. God bless her for not giving in.
Amen

He was trying to divide people further, imo.

Charlie loved.his enemies as the Bible commands us to do is what it sounds like to me
Which is literally the opposite of what Trump said. Why has no-one called him out for it?

Because conservatives are smart enough to recognize a joke when they hear one.

No he wasn't.
Friday
He said "Thank you for joining us from Los Angeles, the second-largest city in our bitterly divided nation, where, like the rest of the country, we’re still trying to wrap our heads around the senseless murder of the popular podcaster and conservative activist Charlie Kirk yesterday, whose death has amplified our anger, our differences,” Kimmel said. “I’ve seen a lot of extraordinarily vile responses to this from both sides of the political spectrum. Some people are cheering this, which is something I won’t ever understand."

"With all these terrible things happening, you would think that our president would at least make an attempt to bring us together, but he didn’t. President Obama did. President Biden did. Presidents Bush and Clinton did."

"President Trump did not. Instead, he blamed Democrats for their rhetoric...."
Monday:
"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,”

Kimmel never made light of Kirk and what he said about Trump's response was spot on

No, no please. I love a good joke. Please tell me what the joke was.
And butcher the monologue? No thanks. You can just look it up and hear it in context, if you’re so interested.

I’m amazed you’ve spent this much time and effort arguing he should be fired over his comments and haven’t even bothered to look up what all the fuss was about in the first place.

One thing is for certain, this had nothing to do with “poor ratings”.

Obviously I heard it. There was nothing remotely resembling a joke, which is why you can't tell the joke. It was just a vicious lie.

You have me confused with someone else. I've not argued for anything in that regard.
One thing is for certain, this had nothing to do with “poor ratings”.
Are you sure?

You aren't seriously trying to suggest that trump was cracking a joke? That's simply...bizarre. Even the White House confirmed he was being genuine: WATCH: Trump 'authentically himself' for saying he hates opponents at Kirk funeral, White House says

'White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt suggested President Donald Trump’s recent comments about hating his opponents was an example of the president being “authentically himself.”

So, it's no joke. But suggesting it was implies that you'd consider it wrong in any case. And here we are on Chritian forum where we have actually seen undeniable evidence that your president says that he hates his opponents. What else can you possibly do except condemn those words? Or are you going to try to support him because hey, 'he's being authentic'.

How on earth does being "authentically himself" contradict the fact that it was a joke? And if it wasn't a joke, what's your problem with it? That Charlie Kirk was a morally better man than Trump?
