I don't know what to do anymore. I pray and work so hard, and it just gets worse, despite medication. I'm at the point of giving up on everything. What's the point of being depressed every day?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Please don’t give up. You go on the mental health sites and you find people who have given up. Just buried in their own stuff. You may not see the point but at least you have a fighting chance now. You work, you play, you are accomplishing, you must be above water. So why incur even more loss of what you have built up over the years.

I am sorry to hear this, man. I struggle, as well. A few things that have helped me, a bit...
- More home-cooked, natural food
- Less sugar
- Cutting out social media
- More time in nature
- Going for walks
- Spending time in prayer first thing in the morning / having a simple prayer rule
- Stopped watching the news

If all you are able to do is pray for yourself & others, do that. Think of the Lord’s commandments ( Matthew 22:36-40) & the Lord’s Prayer ( Matthew 6:9-13). Put 1 Timothy 2:1-6 in this context & trust in the Lord ( see John 16:33).

Gracious Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus,
Please help this one to stop being angry at himself, and to find meaning in his life. I pray for wisdom for the doctors who are treating him, that they might help him overcome his sense of meaninglessness. Help him to do things that are pleasing to You, that he might find meaning and joy again.
