Continued Discussion about dogs in our sleeping beds

I would like to Reopen the discussion about sleeping in our beds with dogs / cats.
I would like to open the discussion with Biblically based scripture passages . The book of
Leviticus. Yes it's in the Old testament, and still pertains to us today.
Not to lay with animals. Not sexually as God states it should put a person to death as well as the animal. Also and focusing on the literal fact of sleeping with dogs. Or other animals.
This is unhealthy and filthy.

2 Samuel 12:1-4 describes a man who had a little ewe lamb that was like a daughter to him. It shared his food, shared his water, and even slept in his arms. The man is described as a victim of a terrible crime when another man seizes, kills, and eats his ewe lamb.

I don't see anything wrong with letting a beloved pet sleep on a bed. They're warm, cozy, huggy, and if it's chilly, everybody keeps warm. Animals can be a huge comfort, too.

We just lost our dog earlier in the month. She was such a good girl. She'll be very, very missed.

I think you quote the bible incorrectly. It meant doing it with the animal.

I don't think anyone here would dream of having sex with an animal.

My cat sleeps on my bed - I don't sleep with my cat.

It says not to lie with an animal as with a woman. I think this means not to sexually join with an animal. It does not mean never to have an animal lying near to you.

Well, in case the animal has not been kept clean and sanitary . . . it would be. But if you keep your animal healthy and clean, then it is ok.

What I would be more concerned about is if we make too much of an animal. I have seen how very cute creatures can be mainly about their own selves. But they can be idolized, maybe because it is easier to get along with them and to control them . . . versus learning . . . discovering . . . how to live in a close relationship with a human.

Being made to feel good with an animal is not necessarily the same as deeply being strong in Jesus so we can't be hurt >

"and who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good?" (1 Peter 3:13)
